pond in winter

Weatherford, TX(Zone 7b)

Well I may have a bit of a Snowbird thing going sometimes but today I want Sunshine. Geez on Sat it was 80,Sunday was nice until sundown when storms, rain, high winds with T warnings. Mon we had snow, Tue snow melted and was a nice day. Wed was like 68 and nice. I think I got that straight but not sure. Well today us folks in Texas could really use those sleds that go on snow! Some areas in my county got 7 inches. Dont see that around here very often. My poor horses lost all their winter coats last week and I was worried about them. I work half a day and was 40 miles away when the front came in early. They are dry and happy with the heat going now and bellys stuffed full I hope. I cant wait to see the electric bill as the heater for the greenhouse and horses is not cheap.
Well the water plants I got in the co-op are happy in the greenhouse and I hope my poor fish are doing ok in the hot tub pond. We have sent 2 Beckett pumps back and Hubby went to get another one yesterday and they didnt have the larger one so he didnt get one. I have a fountain going for the fish and I hope that will work till I get another filter pump going Sat. We have a UV that runs through the pump however without a pump I am lost. Well they are just large goldfish but I love em all. I would really get attached to the beautiful koi fish I have seen. What is the difference between Shubunkins and goldfish? Oh and the pumps have always been in water as we run them 24/7 365 days a year. Well thanks for letting me ramble again! I will look for a photo when all the plants are going strong. It was a really good way to get rid of a hot tub IF you are on pure sand. Would be hard to level it on rock as we put it flush with rock around it.

Hi Weed..The Shubunkin are in the Goldfish family and are considered to be most closely related to the Comet kind, I don't know why because I don't think Comets get as big and fat.

I do so love the sound of the Hot Tub Fish pond nestled in sand, surrounded by rock, can't wait to see a pic or two of it. Snow in Texas now, WOW! Good thing you have a bit of the snowbird in you☺I certainly envy you having horses, I always wanted to have one,but will not live out that dream,it's their soft velvet noses that just get me every time♥

Good luck with the pump problems, I feel I have been very lucky not having any problems with mine so far, knock on wood☺
