Southern Magnolia Propagation

Zanesville, OH

Just received some southern magnolia cuttings, does anyone have any tips on getting these guys to root?

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I wish I could help, but I don't know. Were you able to get them to root?

Conway, SC

I would think that they would be diffucult to root from cuttings. We have many in our area and they will come up everywhere from seeds.

They will root.I use "dip-n-grow", I think thats close, it's dip-n- something.Sorry not thinking clear, but you will need to trim the leaves with only 3 leaves on the cutting, and the remaining leaves cut across 2/3 up from the base.Scar the base of the cutting, and dip it in the liquid. You can put it in a pot with 60% sand (coarse), and 40% peat.mist once a day, and keep a clear baggie over it.Good luck.Mike
