Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Me too! I will let you know as soon as they arrive :-)

(Zone 7a)

Seandor, if the truck doesn't show up tomorrow, how about letting us know what would have been in it - I may have some of those, too, that I can share.

You guys are great! But honestly, I really have soooo many seeds now, that even if the package doesn't arrive, I am out a little cash, but it won't be a crisis.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

See? Just like I told ya . . . seeds arrived this morning :-)

Is my face red? Well, not really - but it is nice to have my theory confirmed :-)

Suzy - you are a GENIUS! wonderful instructions - colour-coded labels! Hurray!

And what a terrific selection of seeds!

So I have downloaded the instructions for the geranium and I am off to start them. BTW, the seeds were "meant" to arrive late. My heat pad just arrived two days ago :-)

Isn't life grand!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

HOOOOORRRRRAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Btw, my geraniums have sprouted and they have smiles on their faces - I didn't do anything "special" other than stick them under lights (two inches above the flats).

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seandor, when you get a chance, look at your envelope and tell me how many postage sticker are at the top. White ones, where the postage stamps would be.

Wrightie, Doesn't that figure? Grrrr. I probably burned their butts off with my dang heat mat. I did have one more germinate, and I can see some of theother seeds, they just won't germinate! Time to take them off the heat mat and see what's going on .

Suzy

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Suzy, I believe that I still have more seeds, so I can send you some more!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh, that is so nice of you!!! You are the best!!!

Let's wait 2 weeks on it, tho. I think they will still do something. I am waiting until the germinated ones get just a wee bit bigger, then I'll move them out of the pot and bring the ungerminated seeds upstairs where the ambient temperature is a lot warmer. (I'd do it now, except the place I have in mind is too dark for the germinated ones.)

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Okay, just keep me posted. I forgot to add that the air temp in the cellar where my lights are is hovering just above 60. I have no idea what the soil temp is because I cannot be bothered to do all that. 8~)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi Suzy - postage paid reads $1.14 weight says 0lbs 2.10 oz

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh, no One envie had 3 metered postage stickers making up the total postage amount, instead of one. I thought maybe that had somehting to do with it but sounds like you got a regular straight forward package.

I have no idea, but I am very THANKFUL!

Suzy

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

wrightie, dmail me and we will get together on those seeds for Suzy then she will have a few more to make up for what she lost :) I'm kind of tied up on the other swap right now but I will get back to you.

Sendor soo glad you got your seeds, gotta love the post office and the Christmas rush lol

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Ooops - did I do something wrong? I planted all the geranium seeds -and I have them on a mat - but its much cooler in the basement, so I would need the mat to get the soil temperature up. I also have florescent lights on. This should work, right?

Also planted the pansies. Gosh, this is a lot of fun!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

You two!!! I's a scary thought to think of those 2 heads getting together cooking *anything* up ! LOL!

Two weeks and not a day sooner!!! I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, the crooked one is straightening up, and the one with only one colyledon seems to not know it is deformed. I can see a set of true leaves starting right where they should. Theyare a lot bigger than they were before -- stouter, too.

Thanks,
Suzy

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I had one that was deformed the one time I tried geraniums and it never did straighten out!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh. :(( I was thinking it looked ok. So, did it grow & bloom and just look bad, or did it eventually peter out & die?

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I finally threw it away it never did anything, I've had this happen to other seeds too once in a while one was a rose of sharon and a green pepper lol

North West, OH(Zone 5b)

Hello hello!

I am just finally getting caught up from the holiday craziness. Well actually no I'm not, but too bad I'm gonna stop and play with my seeds anyway. :-P I have picked out a couple from the swa-op to start then I have to go through the megapile from the swap and get those all sorted out (again).

Just wanted to give you all a wave and see who was up to what. Will BB later....happy planting all!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Lala!!! Happy New Year!

Suzy

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi, La. good to hear from you. Happy New Year and happier planting :0) ~~~ jan

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

So are you buried in seeds yet everyone! Up to your elbows!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

You know I am, Rachel! See, I swap or trade for somehting, then I learn a little more about it, and find there is a better variety out there, then I trade or swap for that, they I find another one that is a better colors or something. I can go through 4 or 5 packs of the same thing before I settle on one. The Chosen One. I give them all little kippahs

Suzy

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

You are a wonderful hostess my dear!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Suzy is the best!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

If anyone has burgundy or rose geranium seeds they can't use, please let me know, because I'd love to trade for some! (I was late to the party.) Maybe you could use extra Delphinium seeds from this swap or other goodies from my stash.

Suzy, I hope you don't mind my asking... I know you had another way for me to get my paws on some "rose" but figured I'd at least ask here first! :-)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

No, I don't mind you asking -- They (burgundy) were sent to you on Saturday, and I am hoping you get them on Monday, but I bet Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Surprise! :)

(I got 2 sets of seed sets confused at the bitter end. Dryad and I found them on Saturday.)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Woohoo! Oh, I hate to think how hard you looked for that missing packet... That's so frustrating! Did you find those Caraway seeds too? If not, LMK, because I might just have an unopened packet in my stash...

I've made it out of bed and onto the couch, so hopefully I'll be downstairs at my little potting station soon!

What's the verdict -- should I put the geranium seeds on the heat mat, or not? Maybe compromise and set the controller to a temp a bit lower than my usual 78?

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Critter that's the only way I got my geraniums to germinate was on the heat mat, I'm putting mine on 75 but this is only my second time trying them. Last time they seemed to do alright but that was a couple of years ago. Didn't Suzy say she fried hers at 180? I can't find her post where she was talking about them lol

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Thanks!

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Critter do you have a greenhouse? Are you starting them already? I'm not starting mind for a while yet probably last of Feb. I just don't want to fill my plant stands downstairs too much and these will be big before I'm ready to take them out anyway. I don't like the smell of them in the basement from them lol Same with petunias they just stink my basement up lol

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

No greenhouse, just light shelves downstairs. I'm only starting a few things this early, and I think the geraniums need to be among them if I want them to be blooming at the beginning of summer. Suzy's culture note says, "For May 10 bloom in 4 inch pots, seed by Dec. 20." I think I'll be starting the "Fairy Snapdragon" seed soon, also. Suzy, I really appreciate the notes on timing -- tremendously helpful in planning when to start what!

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I didn't see Suzy's note on those geraniums, well Suzy are you wanting more seeds of the geraniums I can send half of mine I won't be needing more than a couple of plants anyway, would love to help you out you are such a generous person your self! Don't be shy girl! I wondered why it took them soo long to bloom the last time I grew them, duh! lol

La are you joining the swap that is so cool! Hope to see you there!

I'm like you Suzy, I've got seeds to plant but know I won't get around to them so going to have to list them and just can't decide which ones, this is awful trying to decide!!! But I'm getting a lot of nice ones on here too, what's a girl to do lol So many seeds and soo little time! I'm still ordering seeds, such torture!

I'm going outside to play for a while before it rains suppose to get in the 70's today lots of stuff to do out there and more leaves to collect :)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

LeBug go here for the directions --

Critter, Thank Stokes, but yes, very helpful!!!

Suzy

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh, I remember that post lol Thanks lol

I can't really start mine just yet I'm waiting on some Lianthus seeds to arrive should be any day now.

I had suck a wonderful day outside I'm so sick of all of this rain and I keep taking up leaves because I'm afraid my plants are going to rot and they just blow back right after I remove them! I sucked up leaves all day and mulched them, ready for a new bed now :^) I did about 10 big old bags today. One thing good about the wind blowing all of the time at least it's drying the ground out a little so it can rain again.

North West, OH(Zone 5b)

Is there anybody here? Hello....hello....hello....hello......

LOL!

I'm sowing a couple early-bird seeds and am in a quandry on the Fairy Snapdragon. The instructions don't say anthing about light or darkness. Has anyone else started these, and if so which route did you go?

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I think we're all nose deep in seed envies and labeling - LOL!! I have containers ready for winter sowing, but have to get my seeds organized first - eeek!

North West, OH(Zone 5b)

Me too! My biggest concern is how I will ever pare this incredible stash down to a reasonable amount of plantings. But then again we'll all agree that what's reasonable for the average Joe is laughable to folk like us.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Hi La, I hadn't seen you post on here in so long I forgot you were in the swap lol

Don't you sow all snaps just on the surface, aren't they really small seeds?

North West, OH(Zone 5b)

I know Lea! I'm just getting caught up with DG. I've been so dang busy lately and I hate it! Winter is supposed to be my "down time" and so far that's not been happening.

I just wasn't sure on the snaps whether to withhold light or stick them under. Thoughts?

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

La, They need light I thought let me check my bible to make sure...they need light, most seeds that size I think need light when in doubt I don't cover them. I grew them when I first got my plantstands downstairs and they got so leggy didn't pinch them was afraid to lol I kept the light down on them I'm sure that wasn't it, I've been afraid to start them down stair since lol I just WS about the last of March and they do good and a lot less trouble they are known for being hard to control under lights there may be some cultivators out there now that are easier to grow under lights and I have heard of several people on here having success with them under lights. Snaps reseed anyway so they are a good one to WS but couldn't tell you when they started to bloom didn't write it down sorry.
