so much for no frost.... we already have had it since 8:00
LOOK OUT BEAUFORT!
How's that possible? I'm looking at 38 at 10:00. You live what maybe 6 miles inland from me? Maybe it's farther than that but there seems to be a big difference in the temperature.
kinda like rain only on one side of the street. but there surely was frost... i have the heater going so it will warm the schefflera arboricola and ficus benjamina i have out
agapanthus and Bananas are frozen solid. light frost on schefflrea, but i moved the heater so now it is blowing on it instead of both it and the ficus... no frost on the ficus
Wow, you guys are getting nearly as cold as we are. It's calling for 22 here in L-town, but our area seems to get especially cold, so I'm betting on the teens tonight here (probably 18-19 or so). Very glad I brought my Chinese fan palm in. I just hope the one I mulched in the ground survives - it was from out wedding (Doh, why'd I plant that one instead of the other).
just pretend like that is the one you brought in!
O.k., they weather guessers got it tonight. We got a frost. And the time and temperature thingy that I have project on the ceiling said it was 27F just a couple minutes ago. I watched it for quite a while before I got up the courage to drag myself out of my warm bed.
My Jack Russell Terriers ran outside and then tried to run right back inside. Wimps. My Great Pyrenees, on the other hand, are throwing a party out in the pasture. They are completely ecstatic with the cold temperatures and they are gamboling like puppies. I am in total fear for my knees whenever I go to the barn or chicken coop and a 100 lb+ dog slams into me with joy. "Woo hoo! Love the cold" they seem to say. I don't think they are they best of flock guardians, but I'm hoping that fox or coyotes are too dignified to join in their crazy celebrations.

26F here and easily visible frost on the ground and the rooftops. My little greenhouse apparently got down to 32. Hope it warms up quick!
Jenny: Thanks for the description of your pups' ecstasy. A good chuckle to start the day. :)

Hope you all made it through without too much frostbite. We hit 20F at best... it may have dipped to 19 or so. It looked like snow all over the lawns this morning, very thick frost yet again. And after those 80 degree temps last week, I know my poor Basjoo probably thinks I'm cooking it.
Edit: NOAA officially says 21F in Lexington, but as noted, I think we get a bit colder than that (closer to Gilbert). Must be a weird microclimate.

29 here and things arent looking good
Smiling smugly here, we had a low of 38. The tropical hibiscus I have in the house look worse then the ones in the yard.
Jenny, I love how (some) animals get happy when it gets cold; my furbaby is smiling today too. Coyotes? Are they a problem where you live???
thre was even frost on hilton head. the football fiels at school looked like it had snowed cuz it was so white
We have a new bed where we had some trees removed a few weeks ago. It is wide open and it did look frosty but it could have been because I have a sprinkler set up on a timer that goes off at 5 a.m. to water the new material we planted in that area. That was the only spot I noticed. They had frost delays on nearby golf courses but it is possible it was not a hard frost, just frosty enough to harm the grass if it was walked on.
you are so lucky to have that perfect microclimate!
38!?! That's incredible.
its all cuz of the marsh!
I want one then!! :P
Ha! Me, too! LOL. I went and got some more C9 lights to string up in my little "greenhouse" to prevent it getting below freezing again. Between that and the lights on the Queen Palm, I have some very festive plants. :)
