Daily Pics Vol. 39

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I finally got around to doing some cropping and basic editing on my pics last night. Of course I need to unload more off the camera now. I have to get a memory card soon since one did not come with the camera!

Very good nanny! That last one of the dees is really clear!! wtg!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I am feeling so sorry for the birdies today as we are experiencing another ice storm. It does not seem to be stopping them from munching though. And it HAS warmed up a couple of degrees, so the ice has melted off of one of the Blue Jay's tales. However, This guy looks like he has seen better days.

Not the best of pictures, but I was getting a kick out of both the Dees and WBNs taking off with whole peanuts. Course the Jays were swallowing them whole!

Hi everyone! ;-)

Rose,

Was getting worried about you in MO! Heard on the nbc national news tonite that (parts?!) MO had ice and no electric, power and heat (something like that). How you doing out there? You doing ok?

Noticed the ice on your photos! Carolina Wren for sure on your first pic.

Great pics, and yes, your female Cardinal is purdy! ;-)

Everyone be careful out there who has ice to deal with!

Debnes,

Great pics! This isn't all the feeders I have, I have more! ;-) DH said today that I have to hold off for awhile buying more.

Bebop,

Great pics! Getting the birds in motion takes patience, time and standing still. ;-)

You be careful too with the ice! Saw your Cardinal on ice pic.

Nanny,

Great pics! What are you adding to the tube feeder with tray that the WBN likes?

You have auto fix color?! Tell me about it. What camera are you using and maybe I can find out from DH if we have it.

Those big lugs, as you referred to them as, are big eaters too! ;-)

Tiger,

Great pics! Haven't seen a Mountain Dee since 1983 when I was in CO in the mountains. Cute as can be!

Adel,

Great pics! Love the Kee, Kee birds! ;-)

Mrs. Ed,

You be careful out there with ice! Love your poor little Cardinal! He sure has seen better days! ;-)

Hope I got to everyone! Right now, DH wants to use computer and I'll have to get back to the forum later.

Take care all!

Thanks, Debilu. Resin, I was thinking these were two different kinds of Hawks, but I can see now, the one does not have his tail feathers spread out. If these are Sharp-shinned, it is the first time I have seen these.

Maybe a Cormorant?

Marilynbeth, the tube has no waste mix but I add some BOSS and peanut pieces in with it. Heck, I add BOSS and peanuts to about everthing!!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I got some pics today! Thanks all for keeping me going with your great bird pics!

I had to go to the field of course, there was 2 doves, a blackbird and a jay all near each other. The field had been dragged some time ago, but I didn't know those little brown lumps were organic fertiliser! Got plenty on my shoes.

There was another little bird in there somewhere, it appeared behind the doves. I thought it was a Pied Wagtail but not so sure now.

It looks creamy around the eyes.

A noisy vehicle sped by and all flew. The doves show an interesting colour, it was quite dull so I don't know what caused it.

The Jay has an interesting pair of bloomers.

I wonder why they say you jay walk when you cross a road diagonally.

Nice pics wallaby! I love that last one.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

I have been lurking for the past 3 treads here, there are some very nice pictures here, and a very good place to identify certain birds.
I had a lot of nice pictures I had taken in past few years, but unfortunately lost all my pictures.
Here are some Pine Grosbeak, taken a few weeks ago.

burn_2007, so glad you joined in. Sorry you lost all your old pics, but now you have a reason to take new ones!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

You get some great birds burn! Ditto what nanny said...:-) Where is NB?
It certainly does look like a Common Redpoll to me.

I think wallaby's last pic was a E Collard...? Anyone else?

GP,

Great pics! Nice bright blue sky!

Nanny,

LOL! Thanks for the tube ingredients!

Wallaby,

Great pics!

Burn,

Welcome!!! Happy to have you at all times! ;-)

Great pics! Love those little birds you posted in your two photos! Beautiful!

Burn-Welcome and thank you for your pics. I've never seen those birds before except in books! Lucky you!

Marilyn-Thanks you for your comments and concern. We lucked out and the temps warmed up and the ice in our area has melted. I am very thankful as we lost power for a week in January. It isn't easy milking 50 cows by hand...just kidding, we had a generator. The folks in Oklahoma and North Mo are having it rough though and I hope all is well with them.

I am enjoying all the great pics!

Las Cruces, NM

No snow here ... just cold and rainy the past 2 days. I think my house finches are trying to fatten up to stay warm. They went through 3 filling of this feeder today.

This roadrunner was stalking my little birds, hoping to make a meal out of one of them. Fortunately, he didn't get one today.
