I know many NE forum members will be eager to go to a RU in June. Will any still be interested in a sleep over the May 10th weekend?
I am now working out all the seeds that have to be started, etc. And we could sure use your help on the terrace that weekend.
Plus we get to hang out, wear pjs, order pizza, etc. just like the kids we are.
Slumber party with plants in May!
May 10th - I'll put it in my calendar - we're not good at sleeping over, and we're both so useless I'm not sure how much use we'll be, and if anybody gets any work out of DH shouldn't it be me? BUT, I can't wait to hear how you guys sing, so the first annual rehearsal of the NE Forum Singers will be in May! x, the choir director
Thanks Maestro! Your direction will clearly be appreciated :-) BTW - when you have a moment, check the seed list . . .
If I can come, I will bring my own duct tape so no one need fear. Where is the seed list? Patti
Why would duct tape be needed? x, C
Duct tape or not, you would be most welcome :-)
Carrie, My singing abilities are lacking and what comes out can be seriously annoying. All might flee the minute I open my mouth. Patti
But we'll have plenty of duct dape! LOL! (we can tape you shut if we must - you wouldn't imagine whom I've been able to teach to sing.....) x, C
I still have May 10th reserved on my calendar, Michaela.
Thanks Candyce - I have been involved with several HUGE seed swaps - and I have garnered lots of snapdragon and columbine seeds - still interested?
Anyone have snapdragon 'Mandarin'? xxx. C
Not yet . . . but you never know!
Carrie:
We had four different colors of snapdragons blooming this past season. If Mandarin is an orange color snapdragon, we just might have saved the seeds.
Yes, Michaela. Anna and I are very interested in helping you to start the babies for the terrace project.
I like orange/red colored things. Or at least flowers and clothes. Were they short or tall, Candyce? x, C
Okay Candace, when do you want the seeds? (so I can get them ready)
Carrie, do you like Portulaca? I have orange and coral/peach seeds if you want them.
It looks more coral than orange, doesn't it?
Yes - but they're gorgeous! :-)
Yes! I like pink! I like coral! I like orange! I like red! I like blue! Candyce, whatever those are, I like them and can I grow some?
Yes, I like portulaca, shall I send you postage? We winter sowed a lot last year and bought a lot from HD; it was blooming when nothing else was, often. xx, Carrie
i have portulaca seeds, but they are mixed, if anyone wants them.
That's the beauty of portulaca (besides their beauty) - they're happy anywhere, anytime!
Carrie, no need to send postage, that's one thing I can afford these days!
Carrie:
I'll look to see if I have saved any of those seeds. I know I have a
'mixed' bunch of seeds, gathered when I was just too lazy to separate
them.
I'll take whatever you'all send me... :>)
xx, Carrie
Thought it was time to remind everyone . . . Some of us are planning a sleep over the weekend of May 10.
The general plan is that Saturday, May 10 we will be planting stuff around the terrace. I am starting LOTS of plants and Candyce and Anna are also starting some snapdragons.
Some people may wish to just come for the day, hang out, plant a few things, etc.
Others may wish to sleep over on Friday night, (we can have pizza and pop and stay up late and watch silly movies!) and then plant stuff on Saturday. Others might prefer to sleep over on Saturday (we can have pizza and pop and stay up late and watch silly movies!) BUT, you should be aware that Sunday is Mother's Day . . . this is not a problem for me, but you might want to be home with your families on that day :-)
So, think about if you want to come, if you want to sleep over, and which night you want to sleep over :-)
And we are open to suggestions regarding other things we can do - movies we might like to watch, maybe bring musical instruments etc.
Mother's' Day? Oh, DH makes a lot of noise about that one!!! I'll have to recheck and remind, lol..... get back to you. How long did it take you to get home? Actually, it will probably take us as long to get there as it did you to get here, so . . . how long did that take? xxx, Carrie
Takes 2 hours. Each way. :-)
Regardless???????? LOL!!! xx, Carrie
Well, if you have a magic carpet, you might get to Springfield faster. I am one of those silly people who actually drives lower than the posted 65 miles per hour (cruise set at 60 mph). People who routinely drive at 70+ mph will probably take less time.
You also have to factor in one stop in each direction :-)
Come on Saturday, leave around 8 am, and you'ld be in Springfield by 10. :-)
(Choke, choke, choke) leave when? xxx, Carrie
Well, whenever you want . . . but if you are driving that far, you might want to spend the day with us before you have to turn around and drive back. :-)
Start driving later if you prefer :-) Personally, I am usually up between 5am- 6am, so getting on the road by 8 am usually isn't a problem. But for those people who are nightingales (not sky larks), start out later :-)
We get up late and go to bed early - what does that make us? We just take a looooooong time to get anything done. xxxx, Carrie
Gee, I guess that makes you . . . . canaries? I know you can sing! And you are both very musical . . .
Yeah.....musical like musical chairs? He's an overstuffed armchair (Shabby Chic) and I am a Wheelchair, of course. But we both need new batteries, lol.
Seriously, it's just that it takes 15 minutes not 5 to go to the ladies', I have to take all these pills WITH food so I have to eat a HUGE breakfast and I can't do most of that until my morning aide gets there, although maybe by then Ray's semester would be over, but he still has to work Sat. so I'm still stuck with an aide.
Whine whine whine! Listen to me! What are the gardeners of tomorrow going to think if I have this kind of attitude today? Spit spot, as Mary Poppins would say!
Feeling better now! xxx, Carrie
Excellent - glad you are feeling better! So, you can be a late arrival :-)
We shall see. . . . . x . . . . . .x . . . . . .Car . . . .rie
You gals are a hoot!
Michaela; I have it marked on the calendar for May 10th, but just for that day, OK? While we'd LOVE to join in a slumber party, well, we have 'mommy' responsibilities. Besides, we wouldn't want to miss our presents on May 11th
(*snicker*)!!
Of course! I sorta presumed that . . . :-)
Hi! Today was in the 80s! I have lots and lots of little plants started (gee, I hope they will be big enough May 10!)
Anyway, for those who come and help, you can take the extras home. Just 3 weeks away. ^_^
could those of you planning to come, please send a message, so I can start organizing food, etc. :-)
You should see the daffodils I planted on the terrace last fall! It's amazing to me, that some neighbours have lived in the neighbourhood for over 40 years, and nobody ever thought to plant bulbs on the terrace!
This fall I will plant some scilla and some crocuses. And, if I can get a grant, I will plant LOTS of daffodils around the fountain ^_^
Through confusion of possible employers, it looks as though i am only working Friday that weekend - i thought i had 3 days of work...
So, i figure it's a sign, and i'll be there!
i'll have a few divisions from last year's perennials, hopefully some little plants that will survive -maybe seeds too if anyone wants them that late...
