Oh, oh, I like that first part, but unfortunately, I already got that t-shirt...........evil grin. I can still whistle, though!

Well I still cuss like a sailor, never had a fight, and I'm 30 years past the picking up guy thing. I guess that's why I garden- it's what old ladies do.

That man is soooooooo fine!

Well--I've been away for several days and I see this 'mulch' thread has covered a lot of dirt while I was gone!

The weather here has been so changeable that I'm seeing some of my plants trying to come back as if it were spring...and other little seedlings are peaking up out of ground, too.

I did get all of my bulbs in--some 500 hundred or so daffs, lillies, giant allium and muscari--before I put down my chopped leaf material thinking the freeze was on and now it was appropriate to put some cover on the beds, but 'Not so!', I guess, as it was 55 degrees or so today.

Was in NYC last week and it was cold and windy and I worried about the garden the whole time....still had a wonderful time in the 'wintry mix' of weather. Glad I brought my boots, though.

I will finish covering my beds next month and then remove some of it in spring too to do direct seeding in parts of the garden. Will put the excess back on the makeshift compost pile.

My husband wants to put Christmas lights on it. He thinks that will disguise it!

We are busy with Christmas prep this week. Made an arrangement of greens around my St. Francis statue and put out some extra bird seed cakes there with a big red ribbon. The woodpeckers are loving it and we are too.

Getting ready for the Audubon Christmas Bird Counts, too. (shameless plug) It's loads of fun if you are thinking of doing it they need lots of counters. You can count the birds from your picture window and call in the numbers to the chairman. Or go hike around and go to the count parties, if that is your style, too.

First thing I did when I returned from NY was stir up my compost pile. I think you've got me hooked! t.

Grin, welcome to compostaholics, my name is Cathy and I'm an addict......................ROFLMAO

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

My name is Cathy (too!) and I'm an addict (too) I got all jittery when the snow got so deep I couldn't go play in the compost, I think that's a bad sign.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

It's gonna be ok, kiddo.......the worms are fine and busy.......I wanna see pics of your compost in the spring.
We have the grandbabies this weekend and if the weather is half way decent I want to get in some iris bulbs. Maybe choppy choppy some of these bags of leaves we snarfed and add them to the bins. DH is want to build 2 more bins, but everyone is so busy with Christmas, think we'll wait until after Jan 1 and have better luck making the connections we need to pick up the pallets. This is what mine currently look like. And they are cookin! WOOHOO!! BLACK GOLD!! And my neighbors think we're nuts.......LOL

tabasco- you may want to claim your 'dream date' before the hunks are all taken....
Some year when the kids move out, sign me up for Xmas bird counts. I just wouldn't be able to get them away from their stuff to sit and look out the window even.

I was in the yard today, but telling myself- its OK, you can wait a week for yard work.

claypa, are you out there? you can pick a honey too.
