I grew up in Southern Oregon and, as such, have a deep love for trees and forests.
Yesterday I found a heart-breaking article about the trees lost in hurricane Katrina. 320 million! Can you imagine? Anyway, later in the day, I received a member notice from Arbor Day Foundation about the same thing.
For every dollar given to ArborDay, they will send a tree to be planted in the disaster area. I think this is fantastic and I wanted you all to know about it.
Here's the link to the original story about the loss. [HYPERLINK@www.livescience.com]
And here's a link to the ArborDay Disaster program. [HYPERLINK@www.arborday.org]
As lovers of nature and all things that grow, I think we should try to help

The loss of trees is truly staggering to think about.

Again, welcome to DG.
