Buggy Crazy closing down??

Landenberg, PA(Zone 6b)

I recently ordered some beautiful lily bulbs from this company on the recommendation of all the people on DG that were raving about them. I just went to their webiste to see if they were having any kind of sale and it says that they on vacation; emails may never be answered; website is closed until further notice and then there's a note about how horrible the state laws are for farmers and how even more horrible the neighbors are. Looks like the poor owner is having some sort of stress meltdown.

For those of you who have been regular customers - what do you make of all this?

Seems like a terrrible shame to lose a great source of lily bulbs. I wish we could help in some way.

My 2 cents. The woman needs a vacation and has taken one. She'll be back.

I don't know about the problems she's having, but I live close to her on a farm. I think she is having problems with her immediate neighbors and the police aren't backing her up.

If you go to her site there is an *update* on the drama. I was wondering what was going on, and to the benefit of nosey people like me, she is not shy about opening up!!

It will be too bad if she chooses to exit the business. I was going to add my name to the list of happy customers this spring as she appears to have great plants from the reviews here as well as others' recommendations. But, I agree with magnolia in that she sounds very overworked and frustrated.

I knwo first hand how it is to have obnoxious and inconsiderate neighbors - that was one of the primary drivers in our decision to buy a much larger property farther out in the DFW burbs to get some piece and quiet and to be around people who had respect for the neighbors and their property.

I hope Buggy has a change of heart. She obviously puts her heart and soul into her business and her gardening.

Well, here's my story re Buggy..

I had been looking for peruvian lillies (alstroemeria) for quite some time and found a great deal on a "package" order at BuggyCrazy. However, like some people her at DG, I was a bit concerned about her 'drama" and hesitated for a bit. Also, her site indicated that the alstroe might not always be available.

So, I d-mailed her re the alstroe and received an immediate positive response. (Note that this was before she posted her vacation-getting-out-of-town notice.). I found lots of other goodies on her site, but restrained myself and on Saturday November 15, I ordered the alstroe and some hybrid Lily and semi-double orientals, for which I received an immediate acknowledgement. Monday the 17, I rec'd the shipping confirmation, and the package arrived Wednesday the 19th. Wow. and double/triple Wow regarding the quality and size of the bulbs and rhizomes and the fantastic packing. Very very happy customer, here!

So I too hope she'll be back and suspect she will. If so, I will definitely be back to her site for more orders.

Buggy is a gem. Garden Watchdog doesn't have a rating for people as excellent as she is, positive just doesn't cut it.

Buggy is a gem; both rare and precious. ;)

Seems Garden Watchdog can't count right. 39/40 = 97.5 not 96 :*)

I noticed that too on lots of companies...their numbers do not add up on many of them. I think they exclude neutrals altogether.

Looks like she's back home! The "Closed" message is gone.

She _is_ back! I went to her page today just to mourn the shopping cart that was still full, and the site was open--so I made an order, and she e-mailed that they'd be mailed out Monday.
