We have a smallish hillside on one side of the house in front and we've cut back lots of the shrubby weedy stuff and Mr. R. would like to put fabric down and then mulch to clean it up a bit. How can we keep the mulch from sliding off the hillside?
We don't want ground cover because there is a forest right behind this hill full of oak trees and other leaf shedding trees.
Any ideas?
Help with mulching?
You could make the slope into a series of small terraces with landscape timbers between, then your surfaces would be fairly level and the problem solved. What are you going to plant there?
If you are not going to plant anything there you could put down some wire netting, chicken wire would work, to hold your mulch in place.
Hmmmmm, interesting, both thoughts. I think the chicken wire would serve multiple purposes and might work and I could probably get several big hosta in there too. I was thinking a bit of shade plantings.
