CLOSED: Bugs? Disease? What?????

Calera, OK

My sweet potato vine (Blackie), has developed a problem. When I run my finger across it, there is a liquid feeling. It looks like a fungus/crystal growth, but I am a novice, so I do not know. Help Please. Thanks in advance.

Don't think it is either. Sounds like it could be oedema. A very very bad case of it.

It starts out as little tiny blisters that get bigger and eventually will explode. here some info about it, but couldn't find ya a good pic of it on the Blackie, but it gets it too.

I have friend s in your part of the world that had lots and lot s of rain this year and now winter here and the low lights would be perfect for it to develop. Watch that leaf and watch and se e if those little blisters don't explode and dry up and they wil have then like a corky appearance. henc e the nickname for oedema. Corky.
