Which is this fly please? Less than an inch long.

There are flies which mimick wasps, but this looks like a wasp to me. I can't see the 4 wings but they are not usually visible, a fly also has small balancing mechanisms behind the wings called halteres which this doesn't have.

The eyes also look like a wasp, as do the antennae, even though mimicks can have longer antennae they are poor copies.

Thanks for the clue wallaby. Even with this, it is difficult to proceed on this identity. Will bring it up again so that others who might have joined later would notice. Yes, it looks like a wasp.
