from the opposite end of the porch. Look how much more room I am going to have.

I may have to bring the little cane begonias and the rex ones in and put under lights inside the house. They will be dwarfed when the 'big' pots come in.

i want to look up information about the sola-tube. I am wondering if they would work on the ceiling of the front porch.

South Venice, FL(Zone 9b)

Peggy, I saw a NIP decorated with little ribbon bows tied onto the skinny little branches. It looked very dainty, maybe you can incorporate that in with the rest of your decorations.

the prettiest bows to me are the thin ribbon that have the wire edge on them. That way you can make each bow so easily and also bend it to look fantastic!

Peggy,
The Norfolk has been my only Christmas tree for years, and I have collected very small and lightweight ornaments and garland for it over the years. One garland I particularly like is a set of very tiny wooden objects that look like Christmas tree lights. Some I got from Walgreen's, and some from craft shops, and some I made myself. Be sure to show us your results!

One of my favorite ornaments, a bit out of focus, because I have lived with Bearded Collie dogs for many years...

And finally, the Bearded Collie herself, Rosie (also out of focus), in front of the tree. I like the idea of not killing off a tree every year, and there is no needle mess.

Susan, beautiful tree and what a sweet Bearded Collie. I had a friend who loved them, had a female for many years. Thanks for the reminder of them both!

LouC, Peggy: We got 1 sola-tube installed today. Wow- what a difference. After we recover from holiday expenses, I think we're going to get two more in other rooms. Here's a before and after.

Deb that is wonderful!!! I had my DH come look and he said no way!!! It would mess up his naps!!! LOL!!!

Jeri

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

It was really a startling difference. Like having a spotlight! LOL! Getting used to it now and it really is sooo much nicer. Can't wait to get more!

Anyone have an Alocasia Hilo Beauty that they're overwintering indoors? I ask because mine looks pretty sad. When it was outdoors in the shade this summer, it couldn't get enough water. Now I'm thinking I may be giving it too much. Is is possible it's trying to go dormant? Or does it like to be less wet when it's indoors? It's drooping. Thanks!
Deb

Edited to add: Jeri that's so funny. My DH said almost the same. He said he wouldn't be able to nap in the living room any more. :)

None of my plants have adjusted well to being indoors and being gone for a week and having my neice come water didn't help I'm sure!!! I love your solar tube regardless what Jim said!!!

Deb and jeri mine looked a bit puny when I brought mine in...
I used a large handful of epsom salts in a two gal bucket and mixed it well...
They have gone crazy since then...Actually it has perked them up them all...
They love it... I don't know that you can give them too much water... I water the Alocisias about every other day...they are getting huge..and lots new growth and a few babies...

I knew that!!! LOL!! It's hard to keep it all straight!!!! I'm gonna give them a shot tomorrow!!!
Thanks!!!
