Zanymuse, just reading back a bit to catch up - next time you need to get a big bag in your wheelbarrow: Stand the bag on the ground, then with your barrow in the upright (tipping) position push the lip of the barrow right up tight against the bag. Reach over the top of the barrow and grab the top of the bag (don't pull, just hold it firm) and tilt the barrow back into the down position. The bag should lie right down into the barrow.
Might take a bit of practice - but I find I can lift a lot of weight this way that I can't dead lift from the ground.
Yippy Skippy I've Got Hot Compost!
Laurie1, thanks for the hint for loading. I'll give that a try on the next load because I am sure not going to ask him to put less in!
Hey Laurie - do you have any tips on how to get an especially large bag (read HEAVY) into the cart at the store? And then into the trunk of my auto?
(Besides the obvious - get a hunky man to do it!...)
Cheers! K
At Wal Mart when I am buying Chicken Scratch for my chickens and quail, I put my cart just under the shelf of feed and pull bag over, 50 lb. so that it slides into my cart. When i go to check out counter i ask the clerk to call one of the guys to go out with me and put the sack in my car. I try to plan to get these heavy things a day before Charles is coming to work so he can unload for me. There is a small bale of alfalfa hay in my pickup waiting to be unloaded. I use it in the winter for litter in the chicken house. They love to eat the leaves.

Silly store not to have low loader carts - or enough clerks around to give a hand! I'd call the manager - you know, the only one with a suit on.
LOL, Laurie - managers don't wear suits in the states. Unless the place is owned by the Mafia.
Don't forget the "violin case" to go with the suit, Pagancat.................LOL
Heh...
Too much!!
No suits? How do they know they have been promoted?
Laurie, I've met a few that I'm quite sure must either be bribing somebody higher up or have a "family" connection. Not the brightest bulbs on the the tree..........sheesh. I'm old and cranky and I do not suffer rude clerks or managers very nicely, I'm sorry to say.
They certainly can not tell they have been promoted by the increase in their paycheck, therefore can not afford the suit and tie. Or is it tye?
They may not get the big bucks but they do get neat titles like Barista and sommelier.
Wikipedia:
"barista" refers to one who has acquired some level of expertise in the preparation of espresso-based coffee drinks. Within certain circles, its meaning is expanding to include what might be called a coffee sommelier;
And every company knows that it is cost effective to pass out titles in place of raises!
With what they charge for a single serving these days you would think even an entry level Barista should be getting paid well!
Hmmph. No kidding.
