roxxy, what name did you buy the first one under? Just curious...

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

The first I believe is Kurumasibori and the second I believe is Katsuki. I got them on ebay from Japan but from different sellers. I also have Suzanami (another favoite, pic included) and Keiryu.

I thought it might be Kurumasibori. I grew that too but didn't get the darker star in the middle of the blooms. Your are lovely! The second one is probably an "Akatsuki" (meaning the dawn).

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Beauties!!! Would love to trade if you get some seeds!!!

Greenwich, OH

Roxxanne,
Your kurumasibori is pretty!Love!the star.I would be interested in trading for a few seeds if available.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Roxxanne - I, too, think your blooms are just gorgeous! If you get seeds from these cultivars, I know many of us here on the forum would love to do some seed trading with you. Myself included!

I am particularly interested in your Suzanami ... if that is what is pictured here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4196188
LOVELY!!!

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

I LUV this one...have any extra seeds to trade?

Beth - You mentioned
"The second one is probably an "Akatsuki" (meaning the dawn)."

I agree totally it is Blue Silk aka Akatsuki no Tsuyu...

A company in Japan was marketing what was supposed to be a blizzard Sazanami but all of the seeds have produced Blue Silk...

Always best to double check with the members of the MG forum here...

A nice one, Karla! Love the different looks depending on the temps! Do you know what it is or is it a mystery vine?

Greenwich, OH

Hello:Becky,
I agree with you,as the weather gets cooler the m.glory blooms become darker and pretty. The seeds was labeled as Henka asagoa Blue star.

OMG!!!!! Those pix really knocked my socks off. Wondering if there are any seeds available this year?If not, write the names down & check eBay. Also was wondering what type of camera roxanne is using and what settings & what photo enhancing program you are using. Thanks so much. PS check the MG forums. My lavender moonflower MG is blooming (the first one) and it is so cool. Very different.

New Castle, IN

These all are gorgeous. I would love to trade seeds. Especially the one with the star.

Linden, TN

THUD !! Okay, now that I have crawled back up into my chair... I got to say that the first pic just blew my socks off... I am going to try to find some of those.... My addiction is getting ahold on me... lol..

I don't have any seeds left, and the seeds I kept didn't geminate, CRAP!!!
The camera is just my plain old HP Photosmart 945, no enhancement program. That's just what they looked like! Pretty awesome, hugh? Maybe someone I shared seeds with had better luck and will share back??!!

I have plenty of seeds to grow right now but have a confession to make! My morning glory vines were looking so good and I just happened to pour a half mixed spray bottle of Miracle Grow 15-30-15 on them! I thought that since I watered so good afterwards they would be fine..............now I am just waiting to get all the pods (there are many many) and hope the plants stay alive long enough to collect seeds.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Gail - Don't do this yet .... Wait until others post first ...

I am thinking it might be a good idea to possibly just pull them up by the roots and stick them in water so that the rest of the vine doesn't die and the seeds continue to mature. My thought is that the roots just sitting in water might help the plant dilute the fertilizer which is saturated in your ground. But that is just an idea. I don't know what to tell you for sure. Perhaps Ron or Emma or someone else might address your issue. So sorry and I know you feel awful about it. As they say ... Live and learn! :-)

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I'll be more than happy to share mine if I get any seeds. I have lots of growth but no buds yet....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

let me go look at them again, Becky......I have been watering twice a day since I did that.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Gail - If the plants look like they are burning from the fertilizer, then the advice Becky gave seems sound...short of pulling the plants be sure to water generously to potentially dilute the fertilizer...

Ron

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

They are covered in seed pods and I want the seeds so badly..............I will do what you said...to continuously leech out all that fertilizer.........going now again!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Gail - If the vines look like the leaves are continuing to burn and die, then carefully pull the roots out of the ground and stick them each in a bucket of water. (Not chlorinated water, but well or spring water.) It might look a little tacky, but its just temporary until the seed pods ripen. If the vine breaks at the base when you try to pull the roots out of the ground, then cut the vine above the roots and stick that part in the water bucket. I got over 20 seeds off a single vine stem when I accidentally tore a stem loose from the main vine. It even bloomed for me several times! LOL! They don't need fertilizer once the vine goes into the water bucket, just refresh the water from time to time to keep it from getting any fungus growth in the water. And if the vine gets mushy at the base where you cut it, then make another cut higher up and put it back in the water. You can do that repeatedly until the seed pods are ripe. Then you can remove the vines from your trellis/strings and discard. I hope that makes sense. Good luck!!!

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

Love the photo's, MG's are among my favourite climbers. Here in Japan we have some wonderful varieties with new hybrids coming all the time. Do remember that collected seed may or may not come true to the parent plant. On the bright side you could be in for some nice surprises!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

pajonica . . .

Welcome to the Morning Glory Forum.
We will look forward to seeing your beautiful Morning Glory varieties and new hybrid photos.

Hi pajonica! Welcome to the MG Forum!

Japanese gardeners create some BEAUTIFUL new hybrids! It's always exciting to see what the newest MGs look like. I hope you will share some photos and information with us!

I, personally, love the surprise of a cross! :-)

Thank you all for your welcome. At this time I'm re landscaping my garden so not growing them this year. I will however
look in my local nursery and check the latest hybrids. I love to mix them on the same trellis with sweet peas. mg's thrive
in the morning sun and the sweet peas thrive on the on the other side of the trellis the perfume is divine.
