Hi Phicks, have to admit have never seen a yellow MG.
Let me ask are MG invasive on your zone? or do they have dormancy periods.

Very striking "buckets of gold"

(Edna St. Vincent Millay "...We were very tired, and we were very merry, and the sun rose dripping, a bucket full of gold" - from memory, not sure if quote is exact - but this pic really recalls those lines to me)

I found the rest of the poem - sorry about such a slurpy, mushy website: http://www.treasurestoscrap.com/showthread.asp?subcategory=28&thread=10051&PageNo=2

But it's a great poem - does anyone remember riding ferries?

Will they produce seeds, Paul? Can you post some photos of you tentens?

Maybe Mother Nature could use some assistance with Tenten? That is one beautiful, mysterous flower. I know we've all seen these posts about pollinating MGs, but to me these various contributors to this forum cover it so well - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=3858430

Hope everyone already in the choir doesn't mind my posting this.

Here are a few thoughts on this morning glory fertility subject not intended to cover all ground or as a answer to all questions but simply a drop in the bucket.

My Ten Tens were beautiful and set seeds with no problems though not as heavy a producer as Grandpa Ott...and that`s ok with me! It is refreshing to not have the volunteers to have to weed out from all the dropped seeds imho.

Do you suppose different climates may favor certain varieties as far as being productive?

My Chachamaru refused to set seeds or make it`s own pollen for a entire summer. Beth said hers were Very fertile and even sent me some of her seeds. Then as soon as the weather cooled down a bit I tied some more blooms and there was pollen! It seemed like the impossible had happened. I had been trying for weeks and weeks and Finally I got a few hand tied pods.

I think what was going on it was too hot for the Chachamaru here in the middle of summer and in Beth`s garden it was cooler and more conducive to her Chachamaru`s fertility.

Gypsy Bride will not leave me many seeds because it was a Early spring (late May early June) and then no more blooms until fall bloomer here. The same seeds produced vines behaving differently blooming over a longer season and making more seeds in Beth`s garden than in mine.

So I think my garden is paradise for Kikyo Ten Ten but maybe not for everyone.

Beth, You should try Kikyo Ten Ten again next spring by starting them after it gets really warm. Your fall weather may have nights too cold for them to do well.
I know the 40ish degree nights have stopped all the pretty blooms in my garden the last week or so. It might warm up a few days and give me a few more blooms. We will see.

I will try the ten tens again. The blooms were ugly but every single bloom produced a pod. Every pod had just ONE seed in it. At least I got enough seeds to try again....maybe they are heat loving and I have just the solution for that.

where did you get the yellow morning glory? i would love to get some seeds plmk and thxs so much for sharing beautifull plant

Beth, do you know if the tentens have a blizzard gene? It would be interesting to cross them with a pure white nil to see if the red dots can be transferred...

Martin,
I would suspect they carry a "speckled" gene rather than a "blizzard". If it were blizzard then there would be while spots on a red background (I think).

...but don't worry, I'll get some seeds to you after they dry out completely. Your cross would be interesting so let us all know the results.

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Beth mine onely made one seed per pod even the ones i hand pollnated

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Mine made full pods of 5-6 seeds and they grew back true a second time. One F2 vine had a fuller rounder flower than the others so this could be a hybrid with interesting possibilities.

They don`t set clusters of seeds with two or three pods on one spot like some of the others but one pod every few inches on the vine. I was happy with it. Karen

Beautiful flower Paul, don't forget you can use the emtpy seedpods for arts and craft projects. I had to leave mine behind in CA when we moved, I did not think it would survive here.. It sure is nice.
