Bubba was right, there are MANY forums for you to see. I haven't even made it to all of them and been here a little over a month. Welcome! Misty

I've read through tons of the forums already and I am loving the information already.

Hey Conant, what part of town are you?

San Antonio, TX

Downtown! But when it comes to my job, I travel all over the city. And you?

I live on the NW side, off Marbach and 410 (close to lackland) I work on W. Commerce just across the st. from Our Lady of the Lake.

I would love to meet some other gardeners in SA? Do we ever have roundups here?

San Antonio, TX

yeah! definitely. there are tons of gardening clubs; garden volunteers of south texas, mens gardening club, master gardeners, etc. you could take the next master gardener's class (starts in feb. 08) or volunteer at the botanical gardens or the sunken gardens. the extension office is a great place to look for that kind of information!

We had a real nice one last year in Boerne...with a nice amount of folks showing up. Wish we could have had one again.....I know I've been so busy with work...it was hard to attend anything at all.

I live in the NW part of San Antonio myself....tho I'm out here near Helotes....1604/Braun area. :)

I love the botanical gardens. My grandma used to take me there when my cousins wanted to hit the arcades. I remember she would keep a baggy with wet paper towels so she could snip little cuttings whenever no one was looking. lol. She donated a beautiful pineapple plant years ago.

Melanie, that sounds like a lot of fun. How can we put one together? I'd love to host it, but I would be embarrased for all you experienced gardeners to see me empty flower beds. lol.

Hi JM and welcome to the group of course everyone has already shown you what a great group this is and so much information can be shared.

I know first hand how great they are as we just moved from Illinois to Texas in July and I joined as soon as I found them since I have to re learn about gardening Texas style in the Tyler area...went to my first RU in October over by Dallas it was great and putting names with faces makes it even better.

It's more then just a gardening forum It's a Family!!!

well i am in lou. what a great idea.

Nice idea, LouC, but even Dallas is a bit of a drive for me. I (almost) made it to Waco for the gourd festival, but wouldn't drive that far with the kids by myself . . . now, if the convention could be here . . . I'd be there each day!

I'd love to go to a roundup - of any kind. Just give me a few months notice, so I can start some seeds and have plants to trade!

Welcome to DG, jmcdowell!

Oh yeah I'm around just getting into the swing of 2 jobs again. bus driving and the restaurant takes up the whole day til I get home LOL

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Someone from the GardenWeb site started having plant swaps in San Antonio. If DG doesn't have an RU there next spring, anyone is welcome at the swap they will be having. I went to their fall swap and really enjoyed it. Local events are best for most folks because those long road trips can be kind of hard on them.

This is just a straw vote.
