CLOSED: What's eating my leaves?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

All I've seen are aphids, but I don't think they could do this much damage.

Whatever it is eats from the bottom, leaving a thin membrane left on the top of the leaf. It also leaves behind some black yuk.

I don't think I have slugs or snails in the house...at least I hope not!!!!

I agree that it's most likely SLUGS...especially on HOSTAS.
They love hosta leaves and that's about the only place I find the slugs around my house. I've tried used coffee grounds around the plants but can't get completely rid of them. I don't want to use any chemicals or insecticides...............

I don't have any hostas getting eaten...but the MGs are. I thought slugs ate all the way through the leaf? This bug is just eating the bottom off the leaf. I bug bombed the grow room, so we'll see what happens.

To me it looks like some sort of leaf miner insect damage. Leaf miner adults are fairly small and can fly so it would be easy for them to get into your house, lay eggs and leave without you really noticing.

I bug bombed the room and that seems to be the end of the problem.
