Renate in Oregon wants to correctly identify these seeds she is selling online. She lost the tags so I am going to throw this photo out to our talented group here for ideas on which strain it might be. I haven't grown anything exactly like it so I am asking for help.
beth
Seller needs ID help.
Well I don't know what it is but I sure do want it!!!
I haven't grown a plant exactly like it. Renate said her cats played with her tags and got them all mixed up.
Would it be safe if she called it a "Light Blue Blizzard"?
I'd think that would be ok Beth, if she included in her description that she is unsure of the exact identity.
It kinda looks like Keiryu but without knowing that for sure she probably shouldn't call it that.
Be sure to let us know when it is listed, it is beautiful!
She could always title it as "Light Blue Blizzard-type" or "Blizzard-ish" or "Blizzard-variety" . . . something that would accurately describe the flower itself . . . and then, like I suggested, put in the description that she's unsure of exact name . . .
I've bought seeds like that before. The seller described the flower and put in the detailed description that they weren't sure of the variety.
At least she cares about accurately identifying it. A lot of seller just don't care.
That's when you call them on it, like Joseph did on that ebay seller the other day. But, I think as long as she is honest (at least SHE knows it's a morning glory!) in the description, she'll be ok.
I think "light blue blizzard" describes it great. Sometimes that is better than a "name", you know just what you are getting!!
Beth -
I believe that you are correct by saying:
"It kinda looks like Keiryu"
I'm pretty sure that I know what seller these came from and my guess is that this is a 'Sport' of KEIRYU which is a Light Blue Blizzard.
I saved all of the photos from this seller and this is the closest match.
Certainly is a beauty. Did Renate say all of the blooms were consistent?
Hope this one grows back True - IT IS A KEEPER
Emma
I'll email her and ask her how consistant the blooms are.
Beth - Whatever it's name ... it is a very pretty bloom! Are the flowers large? They look like they are! Very nice!!!!
I agree with Emma in that my 1st impression is of a sport or cross of Keiryu
...although there is more of a pale fuchsia in the throat area than is usually seen in Keiryu along with dark rib/folds that extend into the wide dilute brim...
I'd also be interested in a few seeds for purchase or trade...
TTY,...
Ron
That is mighty purdy! I'd be interested also in trading/purchasing seeds.
Sandy
Very!Pretty!
Is this ipomoea or convulvulus?
It would be an Ipomoea nil.....and a nice one! - Arlan
I can't advertise for anyone here, so I'll just put her email for you to contact Renate yourself

Hi, Everyone! Thanks for your kind words! And, thanks for all the help. You're a great bunch. Beth, you're a gem. I haven't seen anymore blooms from this plant, but it's tagged and has several buds. I did hand pollinate, so hopeful. My first try. Any advice would be appreciated.
Should these plants be fed? And, somebody asked about the size...it was about 4 1/2" across. And, the fuchsia in the throat didn't develop until later in the day. When it first opened, it was the palest blue with blue blizzard and just a touch of pale mauve. It continued to get deeper colors as the day wore on. It was still open a 4 pm...and almost completely fuchsia with blue streaks.
These WON'T be for sale anytime soon....I want to see how the breed. And, I'll offer them here before worrying about any selling. They feel like my 'babies' :) thanks to you all (Special thanks to Beth for all the help, and Emma for the advice and seeds over the past few months! You rock!)
Renate in Oregon....
Hey Renate . . .
You are very welcome, and WELCOME TO DAVE's. . .
I'd love a couple of your awesome Keiryu sport seeds if you get enough to share.
I have some other seeds that I'll be sending you before long.
I am also way behind in aswering your email, so don't give up on me.
Right now I'm getting all of my tropicals and other potted plants put to bed for the winter.
I have a LOT to talk to you about.
Talk soon,
Emma
Hi, Emma...great to hear from you. How's that grandbaby? I have a new grandson...6months old and a job for Oma! I'm so excited about all this new morning glory information. You started me on it. Thanks!
I started out as an ignoramous...now I'm just a semi-ignoramous! lol I have a lot less interest in selling the little darlings, and more in learning about them and growing them! I'll be sure to save you some of the seeds from the Keiryu sports as soon as I get some. Soooo hoping they breed true!
Thanks, PamSue....I love the site! A whole new world!
Anyone....what is this little thing? I bought the seeds from Cynda as 'Murakumo' I don't think that's what this is. It was very small (1 1/2") but may be due to conditions. More fuchsia than the pic shows. Bad lighting. Tight narrow trumpet with 5 little feathers behind it. I thought maybe some kind of Hige sport, but the leaves a tri-lobed with only slight variegation.
Hey Renate. . .
My new grandbaby, Jordin Rose, is doing great. We can already tell that she is going to be the boss of the house . . . lol
Neat that you have a new baby too. Aren't those grandbabies something!
Renate, Interesting MG you have there.
Can you take more photos of it and maybe Ron can help you figure out what you have.
Here is a tip that you will soon learn.
When you are trying to get an ID on a MG, the blooms is, of course, great to see, but it is very important to get a side view and in your case of this one a back view would also be nice. Photos of leaves and vines, and most important the SEPALS.
Did I miss anything Beth?
See if you can get those photos and post them. I'm interested to see what it is you have.
Emma
Renate,
I hope this helps...looks like I bought some of those seeds from Cynda, too. Since I save EVERYTHING!! I saved the photo she used to advertise the seeds (Photo credit Cynda)
They don't look at all like your blooms. I didn't get a chance to grow them last summer but will for sure this summer. I wonder if mine will turn up red, too?
Beth
