Are ALL maple's self-seeding?

Temperanceville, VA(Zone 7a)

I have 4 acres, and would love to plant some trees as I clear out the thorn bushes, crooked saplings, 5 million maple tree babies (we used to be in a pine forest). I wouldn't even mind some maples, as long as we can agree on when and where to reproduce. Are there ANY maples (other than Japanese) that are not prolific self-seeders? Thanks, my birds appreciate the help.

Sugar Maple isn't too bad. The worst are Norway, Silver and Red.

I know what you're going through, I have Red maples everywhere in my woods. I'm beginning to think they're actually worse weeds than Sweetgum.

Check out Florida maple (Acer barbatum) and Chalk maple (Acer leucoderme), both closely related to Sugar maple and slower growing. Shouldn't be as weedy.

Yep, red maples and sweet gum seed like crazy in my back yard. Pines too.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU,

I AM MAKING A LIST OF WISH TREES. UNFORTUNATELY, MY DH GAVE ME A "CRIMSON KING" MAPLE THIS SUMMER. OOPS, BECAUSE HE LIKED THE LEAF COLOR AGAINST THE HOUSE. IT IS 60 FT AWAY AND ALL BY ITSELF. NOW THAT I KNOW IT CAN BE INVASIVE, I'LL KEEP AN EYE OUT. THANKS AGAIN.
