Hi, everyone!
I just purchased a Japanese umbrella pine via ebay in hopes of training it as a bonsai. After doing a lot of research, I haven't found much in the way of tips about pruning, pinching back, shaping, etc., especially since the umbrella pine is not a true pine, but a species called sciadopitys verticillata. The purchase may have been foolhardy as well, since I live near Waco, Texas, which is far too hot for most conifers. I have 5 or 6 other new bonsais, however, and they're doing fine as indoor plants.
Anyone care to offer help me with this? I'd appreciate any and everyone's information about the umbrella pine, juniperus procumbens nana, fukien tea (one regular size, one dwarf), dwarf pomegranate, dwarf elm (Yatsabusa), bouganvillea or azaleas.
