CLOSED: are these aphids?

If so, they don't look like aphids I'm used to seeing and have found on other plants by these. This first picture shows the damage that is done to the leaves and what looks like an egg sac. I don't find any chomped on leaves, just dying at the ends. These are my avacados in pots, btw.

the second picture shows the itty bitty monsters. I pretty much find them only on the new growth leaves, like this one. Sorry I couldn't get any clearer, they are tiny.

Devil Dog that damage looks like it from somethign other than a bug. Those look like a gall on the bottom of your leaf.

I get them on my trees all the time. I took them into the plant pathology lab once and they had no idea what it might be. I have lots of them here, but have never seen any kind of major pest problem on the trees from it.

I cover my plants in the winter with the leave s with these gall things on them and never had any problem at all.

Thanks Star. I can't tell you how many times I have gone over every single leaf, top and bottom, with various products trying to get rid of whatever is doing this to the leaves. I finally gave up and have left them completely alone for the last several months. I don't always see bugs on the plant. In fact, most of the time I don't but when I do, this is what I see. The damage to the leaves is not always to the end either. I have leaves that look like they have been eaten badly, but in fact, they dried up like the first picture and crumbled off, but from one or both sides, leaving the impression the leaf has been munched on. Some curl up as this happens. I have 5 trees, all in pots, all ranging from 2 to 4 feet tall and all showing the same thing since probably early summer, possibly earlier. I can't remember. Anyway, if you don't think this is critter damage, where is the best place to post this to find out what is going on so I can fix it once and for all?
Thank you!

You might try asking in the fruit and nut forum. There should be other avacado growers over there. Are your trees sittign out in full sun by any chance? Wonder if with them beign so small that they gettign too much sun scalding them.

I don't have avacadoes, but have figs that used to get the leave s burned big time til I move d them to where they only got mornign and evening sun and some shade from a big tre e durign the heat of the day.

They are just over a year old. I started them from seed summer before last which is why they aren't that big yet. Three get morning sun and partial afternoon/evening sun and two get full sun. No difference in size on them. I'll ask in the fruit and nut forum. Thank you!
