need scrubs to mix with flowers

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

I need to know good shurbs or evergreens to go with my flowers. I end up with empty beds after the flowers die. I do have azaleas in one bed so I have some green all year. Don't even care if it is green, just something that stays during winter.

Can you give us some more info on how much sun the area gets, would you like flowers on it, how big do you want them to get, etc. In your zone there'll be tons of shrubs that stay evergreen over the winter too so if that's what you'd prefer let us know that too. Since you're in zone 8, there are probably about a million different possibilities, so it would help to get a little more info on what you're looking for.

The beds I need help with the most gets afternoon sun, but not much. Then I have and oval one around 2 trees and it looks so pitiful. I look out there and all I see is dirt with rocks around it!!
The other beds are pretty much in the shade. There are lots of trees so I don't get a lot of straight sun.
I made beds around the house (NUTS) So ordinary. There are a few azaleas there that give me some greenery, but nothing else that will stay green and just STAY. I'd like the shrubs or whatever to get to at least 3 ft., even more on the corners would be fine. I don't know why I can figure it out, I usually do okay. Anyway, I'd like to have different things, you know 2 or three of each thing and then flowers, etc. in front
Does that help
