I've seen reference to this question from time to time on this forum.
My Ipomoea nils are NOT growing as well as they were the past few months. And now the Ipomoea purpurea seem to be loving the Fall season.
Do the I. nils grow better in hotter months?
And do I. purpurea like the cooler months?
What season do Ipomoea tricolor do best in?
And best growing season for Ipomoea setosa?
It would be nice to know what temps, climate, and season these species of MG prefer to grow in.
Seasonal MGs?
I think you have it pegged! nils like the heat...purpureas like it cooler...tricolors like the late fall (they bloom the latest for me).
I. setosa likes it hot and humid in my experience. That can be different times of year in different areas. I just have mine inside with a humidifier.
Thanks, Beth! I've been trying to pay attention to what is said here in this forum and by observing the vines I am growing and that was the conclusion I came to. I appreciate you confirming the info for me! :-)
Becky - Certain generalizations can be made but you have to be aware that strains that have become adapted to different conditions may display different preferences...e.g.,an Ipomoea purpurea that has been growing in Ecuador for many generations is likey to display differences than an Ipomoea purpurea that has become acclimated to North Dakota...
TTY,...
