Methinks this is a moth. A black hairy, about 1 inch long caterpillar gets developed into this during this season after the monsoon rains. Ours is a roof-tiled house and they are by hundreds, fall in to the house through the gaps in the tiles, much to our dismay! Gets into clothes and can be a nuisance when those tiny hairs gets lodged in our skin.
