Here's another old photo with only one view. I'm thinking its a wood boring beetle of some type ... hopefully someone can help with the specifics.

Definitely one of the Buprestidae or metallic wood-boring beetles, probably genus Buprestis.... It's a start anyway.

If you still have the insect please sent it for identification to the autorities, it might be the Ash metallic borer a quarantine pest from Asia.
