Need some input on whether to fertilize at time of planting in the fall.
I obviously don't want to stimulate growth that would surely be killed
by the cold. Do you just put the bulb in the ground and wait for early
spring to fertilize? I am thinking along those lines. Thanks.
Fall Fertil;izer
i think you are correct....but will wait for an expert to answer....:)
Ed McRae writes
"...Artificial fert. is best applied when the lily shoots are the spear stage, just before the leaves unfurl. A handful of well-balanced granular fert. ... should be gently worked into the soil around each plant. Especially suitable is a 6 month slow-release...(20,20,20) formula. One application... should keep the lilies happy for the entire season."

but should we fertilize now that they are going to go to sleep??
