Finally, two buds in DC

Vieques, PR

This brug suffered during our construction --no rough treatment, but set aside in the shade for April, May, part of June-- and is only now showing its first, two flower buds. The plant had been overwintered indoors before that, and finally planted in the ground in July, after which it took off, at least in terms of foliage. Three months later, I see these.

Hoping for a stretch of decent warmth, though last night we dipped into the high 40s, alas.

Also hoping some of you brug experts might give me an estimate of how long these buds would normally take to flower --and whether you think these will ever get there. Is there a temperature threshhold below which growth and flowering absolutely stops?

I'm guessing you will need another three + weeks. Cooler weather slows the process down some. I hope you get to see it bloom.

Ditto Brugie.

One week's worth of progress --significant for one of the buds, not so much for the other. Of course, gotta go with significance first...same bud as in first picture above, though it's a slightly different angle.

This compares to the second picture up top...not sure this little guy is getting anywhere. Hey, is that a third bud in the notch above?
