No, Debra, I don't have the book you mentioned but it sounds like one I need to buy. We went up to Mt. Magazine in May, 2006--beautiful views although it was a little hazy the day we were up there. We visited the Visitor Center (very nice) and looked at the exhibit and attended a presentation on "how to take good pictures with your camera" but it was WAY over my head--much too technical for me. I have a Minolta Dimage Z1 digital camera with 3.2 megapixels and it works just fine for me, although when I buy my next camera I will probably get one with more megapixels.
DH and I are always on the lookout for places and festivals within 2-3 hours drive from us so we may very well take in the Butterfly Festival in '08--sounds like fun! I took some good photos of the views from Mt. Magazine but I can't find them right now. Will try to find them and maybe post a couple later.
All that parsley paid off!
Debra, great collage! Also some great tips on the cage!
This is the only photo I have from Mt. Magazine - doesn't do it justice. FYI for those not from Arkansas - Mt. Magazine is the highest point in the state. It's beautiful up there. There are many many butterflies. It has the highest concentration of the Diana Fritillary than anywhere else in the country. (someone correct me if my facts are wrong) The butterfly festival brings in lots of speakers, displays, items for sale, etc. If you are within range, try to attend!
Great photo, Deb, very similar to the ones I took. --and you folks who live up where the mountains get really high, don't laugh at us--Mt. Magazine's elevation is around 2700+ feet above sea level, which is a far cry from the elevations y'all have over in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, etc., but it still makes for some great views!
Now I am worried--I looked on my photo cd's last night and I can't find my Mt. Magazine photos. I will have to do a more thorough search today--would sure hate to have lost them all! :o(
