My dd and I were having a conversation about the Vietnam War. We were discussing the draft, etc. I told her that her dad's draft # was very high. However, a few days after he graduated from high school and before he was to start basic training, etc., his father died of a massive heart attack. As a result, my husband received a waiver from going to Vietnam and joined the National Guard so he could come back home and help manage the farm that his mother and brother still lived on. DD looked at me and asked "Did you ever think that if Grandpa had not died, then dad may have been killed in Vietnam, and how different all of our lives would have been?" I've always told her how there's a reason for everything in life and I guess she proved my point.
Fate?
That is some very deep thinking on the part of your daughter! There are so many things that happen during the course of our lives that determine our paths. Some we can control through our choices and others we just have to accept as Fate or Kizmet or the Will of a Higher power.
So true, so true.
