Gardening with Texas Native Plants & Wildflowers, part 16.

Those of us with dial-up sure would like a new continuing thread!

My 4 Nerve Daisies have been bloomin' for a week or so now. I crush the ripe seed heads back into the pot I'm growin' them in. I bet layering would work too! Lee

O.K. Lee I will start another thread later, do your seeds have a good germination rate?

Speaking of sowing seeds, has anyone have success sowing Lupines seeds this time of year? My climate is pretty close to some part of Tx. Hope you could help me with this? Local stores are putting out Lupines seeds, if they're not to be sewn at present why on earth will they put them out? I missed those lupines in the garden, and hope I haven't missed them for the growing season. Thanks.

For best results you should sow them in the fall.

Ahhh, this year I'll try to remember to sow Lupines when I prepare for my spring bulbs garden. Thank you, Stephanietx.

Jospehine - I planted the small group of 4 Nerve Daisies that Linda gave me in a large pot (12" dia) and now the pot is full of plants. I believe that at least part of the increase is due to seed germination-growth. I really didn't study them (except to appreciate their beauty) close enough to give you a close guess as to germination percentage.
I would expect that they may increase by runners as well.....can y'all confirm that? Lee

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

They do make runners and those are the ones i use to make cuttings.

Ahhh,....thought so! Well,....I can't be sure,....the extra plants may have been from runners! Thanks, Josephine!
