CLOSED: eggs found on potting soil's surface...

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I noticed these interesting "cup-cakes" like eggs. Anyone could help I.D.? The pot I've is plumeria, and 'filler' planting with portulaca.

The pale yellow pellets actually are osmoscote slow-release fert. pellets, for scale.

Wait a min. Could that be Portulaca's seedpods? lol.

it is some fungus or something like that. This is the first time i have ever had it. I thought is was coming from the mulch i was buying. It will cover the whole of your dirt if you don't get rid of it and it gets hard and the water runs off when to water your plants

It's called a bird's nest fungus, Cyathus olla

OOhhh, geez! When the spores are released, do they become powerdery yellow substances? I've found this "rust" affecting most of these two plumerias that I've in this big pot. Should I chunk the plumie? Destroy the entire planting there?

This fungus does not affect living plant material, it grows on organic debris which is present in your soil.
