Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

oh deejay9, I wish I wouldve known you needed a few red bricks!!! I had a whole bunch.... I ended up using most of them but then gave a few away... Sorry. I may have a couple left I'll look around okay? I sure do hope it is beautiful on the day of the swap... I really dont know what I'm going to have to bring.... I'll look around Im sure I will find something.... Say does any one know what I can do with some fall bulbs I got for christmas???? Its obveously to late to plant them know.... Is there a way to "trick" them???? I really wanted to plant them but it was so frozen!!! Ronna

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Ronna I had a few Tulip Bulbs That I had gotten in dec I put them out on the back porch Not thinking that they could have froze , I remembered them
1st of Feb so I went to Ace Hardware got some soil & planted them & they grew & flowered the last 2 wks didn't last to long here in the house but they did flower so i have cut them back & put them back out on the back porch till I can plant them out side . so if you have some pot's & some dirt just plant them then transplant in the spring where you want them :)

I forgive you on the bricks :)
I was hoping to do a bulb trade in april he on dg's trading forum but guess it is to early yet for many I May have to just Bring all my bulbs
to the swap :))

well its a rainy cold day but hope to warm up toward the end of week :)
Happy gardening still planting the seeds

susie

Hastings, MI(Zone 5b)

I dont have anything growing. last years bulbs sent up leaves last fall, but no new
growth this year.

snow snow snow.
Peter Chan is going nuts over reaching the record of 100", now we are going
for the all time record maybe he thinks. I am glad he is happy. : )
Its so good for the soil. we have been so dry for so long. all the freezing,
the snow and thaw are perfect for the crops and land. thank god.

i am not going nuts this year with seeds. my GH never got put up last year,
and i refuse to lose all the time, soil and love that goes into them due
to a wind or rainstorm. Which, I have discovered, we have inordinate
amounts of here. By golly, does anyone remember the tractor
sinking at the farm on the corner of Charleton Park Road and M 43?
Cheese 0'Peat!

I have gotten an A in my Business of Fashion and an A in the Fashion
Illustration class. Those two classes take about 40 hours per week of
study. Its intensive and almost overwhelming. Ask me how anyone
can get a wrong answer on a open book test, and I will tell you that
it is easy. : ))

so, regards to all.
I might just have seeds for trade, but thats ok?
Tigger melon, and heirloom fuscia pink zinnias.

I love iris!!!!! Please anyone hold back a few for
me!!! please please.

How does the swap actaully work. If you have stuff that you are holding onto for a specific trade what do you do? If you are only interested in cetain things???

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Flowrgirl11 I will try to explain as for your special plants for a few special plants you are looking for
well I would say MAYBE List a few things Here that you are looking for MAYBE Just MAYBE One of us Here might have
what you are looking for Check our Trade list also .

Then ask us if we might have it for trade & Let us Know what you have for trade for it. Now If you plan to come to the swap you can bring with you .

I truly cannot tell you who will be bringing what to the swap but you can bring any extra as you like to trade for other plants you might find
& not even Know you want :))) it is an addiction .

BUT SO MUCH FUN :))

Hope I have help to answer your ??? . please let me know .

wiggly quess your ears was burning today when my sister & I was talking about you while I was at her place today in Freeport :)))
Good luck with your classes .

well My bird wants my attention so you all have a great evening .

I have been to several swaps and held several here at my house!!!
The best advice i can give for the person running the trade-have time before the trade to walk around and see what others have brought, set a time for the trade to start.
When your walking around you can ask-would you trade this for that.

Another way is to trade in rounds-the first 10 people to arrive and sign in, get to be the first 10 to pick a plant or 2 plants and then the next 10 and so on.....

I would have someone at my table at ALL times!
plants have come up missing!

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Very Good advice Not & I Have seen some take from one table then go to another table in the 1st round (UNFARE) in some swaps I have been to also , that is why
I have a couples ways to be sure this will not Happen But it will be explained at the swap .

if you bring 10-20 plants we hope to make sure you leave with just as many others ,we know you will Leave with A Full Tummy &
Lots of NEW GARDENING Friends :)))

Arrival time is from 9am- 9:30 to 10am for set up then from 10am to 11 am looking over everyones tables & meeting our gardening friends
coffee will be served .

well we are getting another snow & it is very windy today so guess I will stay in & plant a few seeds :))

Have a great day love hearing from you all .
susie

Au Gres, MI(Zone 5a)

susie.......may I suggest more time for setup........depending on how far the car/truck is parked from the site where you set up.....and how many plants people are bringing........keeping in mind.....some people may have to travel 3 hours to arrive there intime for the 9:30am setup....which means they will have to leave thier home by 6am....

When Not Martha had it, we used a Noon time setup.......and if you arrived earlier, that was ok....some gals came from as far as close to ohio border, so that's a long drive....I would wait till after lunch before you do the trade, by then most will have arrived....

Deann

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes you are right deann I love it when others can Help in suggestion so I will
edit the top :)
thank you

susie

Winston-Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

OH So Nice rose look forward to meeting you :)))

If anyone has other suggestion about the swap I would love to hear them I Hope the time changes will be good for everyone .

susie

Fenton, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey Susie I also Like the noon start time. And wouldn't it be nice to put the food out and have a luncheon first and then swap and then go home!!!
While we are noshing we can talk about what we have to trade.
If we have name tags and some like myself may make a s "sandwich board" to wear at lunch advertising what i have and what I want!!
I like the later start time!! Can't wait!
Julie

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

YES LATER START TIME i THINK WILL WORK OUT FOR MANY. GETTING SO EXCITED TO MEET SO MANY FROM DG:) FRESH SNOW AGAIN LAST NIGHT BUT SUNNY TODAY HOPE IT MELTS FAST .
Sorry for the caps forgive me I have to go for my eye exam at 3pm :)) hehe so you all have a great day I have to get ready to go .
