CLOSED: Good Cats or Bad Cats?

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Found these on the underside of a leaf on one of our Hybiscus plants. Are they good or bad? And, if good, what will they turn into? Thank you for your help.

Glossy Black Idia (Idia lubricalis) maybe??

Wondering if anyone has any idea about these cats?

You mean besides DonnaB's Idia idea? I don't know, it reminds me of Nymphalinae larvae, but the one of those it looks most like (to me, anyway) is the Question Mark butterfly. And I don't think they'd be on Hibiscus?

Have they grown any to where they might look different?
I just now thought of looking at some sawfly larvae, there are some that love Hibiscus

I believe these might be young io moth caterpillars...They start out orange with gray bristles and later they add red side stripes. Near maturity they are green with the red side stripes and branched spines. Don't touch. The io moth is a beautiful moth, BTW.
They'll feed on hibiscus.

Here's a link to the caterpillars - they are in different stages and the green ones are older.

Oh my gosh, that is so them. They only stayed on the Hibiscus for 2 days then crawled away somewhere. Of course, we have about 10 Hibiscus plants so they could have gone to anyone of them.

I have actually seen the full grown moth, but wasn't sure what they were. They would never land long enough to get a picture of them.

The reason I asked again was because I had never seen the glossy black any where near here. This really helped. Thank you everyone, our yard is really turning into a butterfly haven after planting the Milkweed and Passion Flower.

I looked at every plant, it took awhile. Didn't find them, but I did find this little fellow on my Cirrus (sp) Bush that is just starting to bud.

And, the quest for information continues.

I will try again tomorrow. The plant leaves fold up during certain times of the day and this cat was right in the middle of the fold.

Thank you Donna. I forgot to put the new pictures on this thread. ClayPA was in agreement with you.
