What causes buds to not open?

I'm having this problem with my moon flower...it's in the same family, right? The buds get to the point of unfurling...and freeze...they don't open. Had this happen on over half of them so far....is this something I can fix?

That was happening with my F2 Picotee x Mini-Bar in early spring. I determined it was fluctuations in temperatures from day to night of 15 -20 degrees inside the greenhouse.

Thank you!! That could explain it...he's still outside, and it's been in the 80's during th day and down to 50 at night....when he's supposed to open....ok...in the house he should be better...right?

Hopefully, he'll be happy inside...... I've had a sinus cold since he started blooming...everybody's been able to smell him except me!!!

Probably .. I know when the temps started evening out, the opening problems disappeared.
