CLOSED: Fun Bug to ID Please

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I found this one outside crawling up my leg. I put it on my computer to get a picture. It's body looks just like a small bud from a flower with cluster blooms. ie. buddlija or verbena etc..

Hi,

Your bug is similar to the one on the link below; genus Phymata. If I'm correct, the front legs should look like fat little praying mantis front legs. I think I can barely see them in the second picture. These bugs come in different colors so as to hide in and around flowers, where they catch their prey just as mantids do, only these suck their prey dry rather than chewing it up. Very cool!

Deb, it reminds me of a weevil. The head and antennae shape are weevil shaped. I found a Sweet Potato weevil which is white in it's 'pupa' stage.

This link has drawings of the pupa stage, I don't know if the head and antennae fold out while it's still white. Whatever it is, it looks like a weevil.
