It looks id'd correctly but a nice, clear sepal shot would make it definite.

looks like Ipomoea hederacea to me...

Marie - The sepals actually look like Ipomoea nil to me as I don't see any curving of the sepal tips...

Please post a clear closeup of the seedpods...I'd like to see if the sepals are curving at all on the tips...

ok will get a pick if its not raining tommorow and see if they have started to form yet.

i hate buying one thing and getting another as i really wanted the ivy leaf.

oh well still a pretty one.

Ron, doesn't most nil have the sepals laying against the bloom? At least mine do....when the sepals splay out it looks more like my hederacea. My hederacea is a little more hairy than hers, though.

okay here is two different shots of the seed forming

That looks really hairy like hederacea, but let's wait for Ron to check in.

hmm i aint got a clue. seems to me you buy on ebay now adays and you might get anything but what you wanted. either way its pretty.

so either way what it is its blooming. hehe

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Beth - It still looks like an I.nil to me as I don't see the sepal tips bending on any of the views...everything else is secondary and essentially irrelevant...also if you have any I.hederacea growing right now go look at the inside edges of the sepals...you should see that the inside edges are slightly to very much turned up and/or folded inwards and this almost always occurs in I.hederacea but I've never seen it on any Ipomoea nil...the inner edges of the sepals on the plant here in question are flat and do not have any degree of the edges turning upwards and/or inwards...

review the following links for reference

Marie - if you can show an early flowerbud from the side like this
early flowerbud of Ipomoea hederacea hanging down from upper right stem...
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/8855/
notice degree of splaying outward and backwards of sepals...

I'd like to see what the sepal tips are doing as that would be helpful...

Ron
