Show us your ugliest bloom of 2007

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Okay, we all like to brag...but what about the ones we'd rather NOBODY ever saw!
Come on, I know you have some really "special" ones to share....

Lol .. well I tend not to take pictures of the uglies and tend to throw them out if I do .. but 1 flower from the F-2 of the Picotee/Mini Bar cross turned out ugly to me though others throught it was pretty.

I just deleted some of mine!! Neat thread, here's one that just didn't do anything for me...A lot of others liked it though!!

I like it too Ronnie! That would have been far from my ugliest!

Mesilla Park, NM

I like it too Ronnie...

Good thread.

In the old days I would have said " I'm not going to waste film on ugly blooms" but in the digital age, it doesn't matter!

luvsgrtdanes, Please, send me the seeds if you get any from those. :)

I'm with you, Ronnie. I don't like it either. I'm particular, they have to be special in order for me to like them.

I'll save as many seeds as it makes but I won't grow it next year!! My neighbor loved it!!!

hi ronnie
save me some speckled blue..it might be good for crossing with other varieties :)

Ronnie - I have to agree with the majority here .... nice speckled bloom! :-) One man's trash is another man's treasure! I'd love to have 2-3 seeds of that one, too! I like it because I haven't grown any speckled blooming vines yet. Looks kinda cool.

Here's one of my uglies.....

Three days of gusty wind, a twenty-degree temperature drop, with nighttime temperatures in the mid-fifties, dipping into the upper forties, and scattered rain, to boot.

This shaggy, spotty, beat-up thing was about the prettiest morning glory on all of the vines this morning.

I've noticed my blooms getting smaller and smaller as the temps drop.

Mesilla Park, NM

I've been moving plants into more protected areas today (lots of cactus to overwinter too) and the vines into the house, not all of them though.

The flowers are small here too. It will be in the low/mid 40's here tonight, don't know what I'll find in the morning. I've been putting stuff into the ground as much as I could today.. my body is about to fall over..lol..

Great to see your flowers, ugly or not.. very happy here, I got a huge aristolocia open inside the livingroom.. it is gorgeous, my first one.

Took a pic of the Aristolochia flower.... beside the flower, I. parasitica pods are drying in the house also, they both are sitting on the treadmill.... I knew we bought that thing for a reason. DH said he is just glad I don't put clothes on the treadmill.

The ten-tens may have been ugly, but every single bloom made a seed pod! I'm not so disappointed with them after all.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh that is awesome, Beth! I feel the same about my Gray Fog vine. Tons of seeds from that one. I think every flower was pollinated. I wonder if it produces a lot of nectar to attract the bees and moths?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I don't know but they sure attracted my hand-pollinating little paint brush!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

ROFL!!!! I can't say mine went to seed because of my handy-dandy little paint brush ..... though I must confess that I am doing that to some of my other vines that are stingy on the seed production! Too funny, Beth! :-D
