MALUS RED SENTINAL NO APPLES!!!!!!!!!!!

Rochdale, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I bought a Malus Red Sentinal last autumn from a local garden centre. It had loads ofgorgeous big crab apples on it. This year I have one. Any ideas what I have done wrong or do you think its just settling in. We had a very wet summer in the UK this year and poor sun.

Probably mainly just 'settling in' and diverting most of its resources to root growth to get established.

Poor pollination with the weather is a possible additional factor, though.

Hi Resin
Thanks for reply think we have spoken in another forum? Was it to do with buddleias? I do hope you are right about the settling in. Have you any malus? How have they been? Plants are funny really. I planted a Fothergillia Monticola last year. It was supposed to have the most fabulous autumn colour. Last year it was a dull mustard all over and this year it has turned fantastic shades of gold and red!
