I have never been to one of those HDs - after I found out they dont discount much if ever I stopped going there for plants altogether (does not help they always have the same old things year after year)
Local Lowes discounting prices for Fall
Bad news. I just went to HD landscape store on Frankford and B. Bush. It is closing, everything 20-40% off (including landscape rock, compost, mulch, etc----everything. Apparently, this is a corporate move and all nine HD landscape stores will be shut down (will start a separate thread) It is closing, everything is 20-40% off. I picked up five salvias ($3.99 each) three azaleas ($7.00 each) and a large camellia ($14).
Oh my, I wonder if they are closing ours too, they built that new Lowes right in front of it. I heard HD was in some trouble some time ago. I wonder why? I spent enough money in there to keep them open. for days :)
CC what entails a landscape store? I never seen one that was different.
Sylvia, the Landscaping store is one that carries gardening soils, gardening tools, birdbaths, plants, lawn chemicals, seeds, and other things for gardening....but just more of it and thus a better selection. We have one in West Fort Worth on Bryant Irving. I have never seen more than three or four cars there and they are a little hard to find, sitting back behind other buildings. I bet it will be one that closes.
Yep, corporate HD has decided to close all eleven HD landscape stores (three in Atlanta and eight in the DFW metroplex). HD customer service and overall quality has been lacking for quite some time (Scott Burns reported as such in the Dallas Morning News and NY Times with a rather scathing article---will try to find a link).
I started a separate thread on the HD landscape store closings about four days ago (might be on the second page of the Texas forum by now)
The HD landscape store was a great idea and should have been profitable in the housing booms in Atlanta and DFW. Their plans was poorly executed with bad locations. I went again yesterday and picked up a great shovel, some nice clippers, and more compost/green sand/azalea mix/pine bark mulch and two more autumn twist azaleas.
Everything 20-40% off.
