It is beetle season here--that time of year when various beetles suddenly appear on all of the sidewalks for a few weeks before disappearing for the rest of the year. This year I have something new in the garden. This is a pie pumpkin plant (C. pepo) and the beetles are up to several layers deep on the leaves, completely draining them of fluids.
Does anyone know what kind these are? Any thoughts on control? Is there something I should be doing to mitigate their presence next year?
Thanks.
CLOSED: Beetles on the squash leaves?
They're true bugs, not beetles. Squash bugs, maybe these:

There are adults and nymphs (young) in your picture
Obviously I don't know my bugs from my beetles. :)
That does indeed look like them, and it appears that dealing with them is going to be a major battle.
