I have never grown MG but,

Concord, CA(Zone 9a)

I have seen the most beautiful flowers and thought I would like to grow this vine with some ivy I have growing by my pool. I don't much like the ivy and if I could get mg to grow over it it would be beautiful.
Now I have never grown mg before so any advice would be great. I love the bright blue, purple hugh flowers. Any idea what type that would be. Also when do I plant in N.CA zone 9.
Thanks in advance

MGs will grow great in zone 9....when do you usually have a frost? or do you?

Thanks for responding,
We get one or two frosts a year usually in Jan, we hardly ever get a freeze. some years we don't even get frost. Do I plant the seeds in april?

I'm thinking because I used to live in zone 10....
MGs like temps in the 70's best, so plant when your daily temps are regularity hitting the 70's. Once your vines are established they may shrivel in a light frost but still survive.

Can I suggest starting them inside in a sunny window? They make great house plants! and you can transfer them outside in the spring.
LMK if you want seeds or OceanBlue starts.
