Victor:
I always knew you were koi. (I bet you knew THAT was coming!)
The Annual Photo Contest has been announced
Hee hee - hopefully I'll last longer than the fish!
If any of you have entered previous Photo Contests, would you let me know what size photos you uploaded?
I hope this helps, Candyce, because I'm not a computer geek:
I use the exact same size as I do when I post a photo onto any DG thread at any time.
well, I usually reduce the photos I post to 72 dpi and about 550 pixels across the thinnest edge. So, I am wondering if I should upload ones of greater resolution and size? Of course, that means more KB of space and lots more time needed per upload, but would it be worth it to do that?
I don't know.
I've been entering with 800 x 600.
Sorry, pirl. I didn't mean to ask you directly.
I have looked and looked through the thread, but I haven't found any mention of size or resolution. So, I was just wondering what everyone else who had ever entered had done.
Thanks, Victor. What resolution have you been sending?
I just resize all pics to 800 x 600 and send. It's also the size I always use for posts. Dave said at one point that 800 x whatever is the preferred size for posting in general.
Does each photo in our photo programs tell us the size it is? I've seen something about 3.2 somethings but that doesn't tell me the size just the space it takes up on the computer.
It should. In mine (ACDSee), when you mouse over it in thumbnails you see the size in pixels and in MB. You should be able to click properties too to get that info.
You're right! I just went to the photo program and each photo is labeled with pixels and MB's.
Thanks, Victor!
No problem!
I am not sure but I think if your picture is anything over 800 x 600 pixels DG will reduce them to 800 x 600 pixels. If they are not 800 x 600 they will will be uploaded the size you have them.
Here goes a test. Just as it came out of the camera, it is 2304 wide by 1728 height, these are pixels. I use Adobe Photo Deluxe it will tell me the pixel size. Lets see what it does.
I only see 3 leaves - nice though.
