Nice shots! Maybe all the other MGs wanted to stay awake to see the "star" I. saintroanensis Australia make her grand entrance! lol :-)

Looks like someone has been busy pollinating Dracula, too! I hope this vine gives you lots of seeds! This is really a very nice cultivar in every way!!!

Hey guys, I`m off today.

Gourd your Drac is cool and is from a batch of light blue picotee seeds I purchased here in Japan. I still have a few left that I was saving and I`m glad I did..

I`m sending you some red, white, violet, and blue Picotee ones and these have the white edges. Also you will get a few blues with the purple center & they are cool looking too. TTYL.

For some reason they remind me of transvaalensis blooms...
or is it transilvaniaensis?

Beth, I think you mean TRANSYLVANIA (sp)..lol.. just kidding..

Here are some of the Dracula flowers .. at the beginning in July, it started blooming in June I think, it still is blooming..

Dee, this is the color that they all have been..

Trying to find the very first one.. it had a reversed tube, June 4, 2007.. and that same plant is still blooming. Can you beleive that, the seeds from this one up here are also blooming, there were two seeds and they have been blooming, very small plants right now, I don't know if i can keep them alive when winter hits though.

The color changes to lavender by 5/6 pm, if they don't close by then, sometimes they close early.

Beth, I really like that color on Trans.. it is a very nice pastel lavender and just nice.

Houston, TX

Yeah they are the light blue ones which is rare. I grew a few but have them mixed in with my super garden crop. They didn`t catch my eye until I saw your pictures.

I got to get ready for work and do my lesson plans. So I`ll catch up with you guys this weekend.

That Dracula is really wonderful!

Beth Did you mean Transval ?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I was just joking about the similarity in the name...transvaal and transylvania. The blooms do look a bit alike in shape.

Mesilla Park, NM

I like the color on that transval, I haven't grown that one. There are some really neat muted colors in the purples that I really like.

Transvaal Orange Seeded Morning Glory is the common name.
Ipomoea transvaalensis is the latin name.

Gourd - Whatever it's name, it's a winner! What a great blooming vine! Love those flowers!!!!

Mesilla Park, NM

Goodmorning everyone, and thank you for the comments.

Believe it or not it has a flower this morning and two yesterday (this is the original vine and is still blooming here and there) the seed was originally planted in March and first bloomed the beginning of June. I think that is a record for the longest bloomer (5 months) I've had and it still has a couple of buds to go. The plant itself doesn't look it's greatest but, boy it wants to LIVE..

The two seedling are very small, and not growing too much, it seems, they have bloomed and have a couple of seed pods, but nothing like the firtt one. I think it has to do with winter coming and the plant knows it . I did bring them all indoors and I take them outside everyday to get light.

I would be very interested in long blooming/lived mgs besides the perrenials, maybe we could all list the ones that have lasted the longest and when we sowed them. Can you imagine having flowers for so long??

We've got a day trip today, so will be gone most of the day .. TTYL
