This grows voluntarily in my bf's garden in Copperas Cove (8b). I'm guessing that it's some type of lily. Just don't know which.

lily id??
Well, the pic is very small and out of focus, but I'd guess it's a red spider lily ~ Lycoris radiata. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2109/
thank you Moby. I had guessed Spider Lily but then I saw some that were being described as Spider Lily and they didn't look the same. However, you're right that is what it is.

L. radiata, most probable, as it is fairly commonly grown down there, I understand. But might possibly be others in the amaryllis family, maybe another species of Lycoris or Nerine. Both of which I know very little about the ones that don't have a prayer of surviving winters up here. Even a more clear pic would not help me.
I looked at the link that Moby provided and it looks to be very clearly correct. It's one of the few things that don't die on him, he has a black thumb. lol
edited to say he can even kill a kalanchoe, and you have to go pretty far in my experience to be able to do that. lol
