Probably the last big show of blooms

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'll post some pictures here of what I have blooming now. I'm not sure I'll have time for the rest of the budded ones to bloom before frost.

Rosalie today. Still freckled.

Wind beaten Rothkirch, but nice color anyway.

Here is a good picture showing how Rosalie freckles for me. She has done this since I first got her. I think I may have said this before, but no one who has grown cuttings from her seems to get the freckled look.

And my last picture for now....Culebra. Still growing well and has had dozens of blooms, but not particularly beautiful. Thanks for looking.

Wow, great pictures, Shirley. Beautiful blooms. Hope your others have time to open before the frost. The Harlot you sent me is blooming so good now.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Froggy sighing over day dreams. What a beautiful double pink.

I just had relatives from New Jersey here. I think they found the scent of a couple of hundred butterfly blossoms to be quite overwhelming. Lol!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Gorgeous, Shirley! I am so glad the weather held out for you. I know you were skirting frost there for a bit.

I love the Luminosa x Whiskers seedling. Lots of Whiskers in that one! And, Day Dreams still looks great, even though it's not a large flush. The color is awesome.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Beautiful Shirley. I am envious of your Culebra. It never would bloom for me

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. It's so nice to look at something that isn't just green or green and yellow. That yellow isn't from blooms either. There was lots of leaf yellowing from mites and heat this year.

Donna, I put my Culebra in full sun and water the heck out of it. Other than having mites once this summer, it has done pretty well. It's growing in a three gallon pot.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Donna, like you, my Culebra hasn't bloomed. Heck, I can't even get it to grow. LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

WOW! I like that Rubirosa.

Brugie, the freckled one is so-o-o cool, but I still love Day Dreams! Thanks for sharing!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Thanks for sharing Shirley, we always love your pics! I'm putting Day Dreams on my MUST have list.. (pink!) GORGEOUS! And what wide skirts on that new white one, very pretty. I like how the new yellow one holds its whiskers so proudly! They are all very lovely!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

So nice to browse through all those beautiful bloom pics! Thank you Shirley. I am in love with the Luminosa seedling!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

As always your brugs look just beautiful!!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I just have to keep coming back to look at Day Dreams - I'm in love!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thank you all. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. That's what it's all about here, sharing our love of brugmansia. Thanks again. I hope Mother Nature will be kind enough to allow me one more flush of blooms. The buds look to be about two weeks from opening. Cool weather may slow them down.

Watertown, NY

Beutiful Shirley. i have tons of blooms and buds right now, and like you not sure how many will make it before frost(sigh).

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Thanks for sharing your photos. Your daydreams sure got a lot darker than mine ever did before it croaked ;( Your rubirosa really has a nice flouncy form and looks nice behind the blue fir tree in the corner of your photo. Too bad you cant get the freckled one to root.
That would be a good name ~Freckles :P
Have you tried pollinating that flower to see if the babies will grow out freckled?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks again everyone. The Rosalie (freckled brug) does root easily. It's just that she doesn't show freckles for other people. I'm sorry your Day Dreams croaked. There are a lot of them out there now. She should be fairly easy to pick up.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Shirley, your brugs. look fantastc !! I especially like your Rosalie, her shape is gorgeous, and your pumpkin for your last set of pictures is also gorgeous.

Patricia

Don' t worry about it, Shirley. Cool weather does that to some hybrids. Besides, Rosalie looks quite qute with freckles : )

Mine has not started yet, but here is a B. suaveolens type from a previous year.

Thanks Patricia. I do like Rosalie a lot, but Rothkirch is awfully pretty too.

Tonny, the funny thing about Rosalie is that it doesn't matter what the temp is, she blooms with freckles. Even in July and August, our hottest months.

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Wow! Wonderful pictures! I think I'd kill for Rubirosa! LOL, don't call the cops .... only kidding. Wouldn't kill, but maybe a little grand larceny. Be happy you're a long plane ride away from my larcenous inclination.

I wish I'd started my seeds earlier. I'm a long way from buds on my Luminosa seedlings. They'll get a spot in the greenhouse so I can see them bloom sometime - maybe this winter. Hope you have an extended mild season so you can see everything bloom! It's so nice to see the pictures.

Great pictures Shirley. Looks like the brugs are putting on a wonderful show.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Mary and Jeanne. It sure took the brugs a long time to decide to bloom this year. I hope next year will be better.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

How many flushes do you get in Iowa? I have a hard time getting 2, and the first one is minimal. I'm sure it's because of our cooler climate and probably more shade than I would like.

Dunedin, FL

Shirley, looks like after the disappointing Sommer it is all comming together and finishing out with a BANG, making up for it presenting you with some wonderful looking Blooms and Flushes

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

In a normal year I will get up to four flushes on most and five on a few. This year has been horrible. Between all the mites, heat, and lack of rain, they took their time.
Thanks to some good rain late in the summer, they have finally done something, tho I have about 75 seedlings that would normally bloom the first summer and they aren't going to make it. To me, it seems our weather is changing every year to much warmer and dryer. If it continues, I'll have to cut farther back than this year's cut back.

Thanks again, to everyone for peeking at my brug pictures.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Burgie love your daydreams and freckles.
They are sure getting a late start this year.
I want a double pink to go with Species and Golden Lady

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I seldom post anymore, but ..

Very nice, Shirley. You have some real beauties there :-)))

We have had similar summers. Though I believe mine has had even less rain.
It was really hot and dry here this year, too.
Most of summer was spent trying to keep everything watered enough.

I have a beautiful double golden Halloween x Edna cross blooming right now.
I am hoping other of the seedlings bloom before cold sets in.

Your brugs look GREAT!!!

Alice

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Alice. I would love to see a picture soon of your new double. I love some of the doubles, but for me...ya can't beat a bush full of singles to make a big show in the yard.

I hope your seedlings get to show you something before frost. It's good you have a greenhouse big enough to hold the ones that don't bloom this year, tho.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I like the "bell" of the singles too. Since this is my first year of real success, I can resist posting a picture of Solid Gold. Wish I could find Whiskers again. and Grand Marnier.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Oops! forgot the picture
