I just planted a seed of Brazilian (setosa) MG. It sprouted 3 days after I planted it. After seeing the color of the first leaves, I was really interested to see what this plant and the blooms look like when mature.
Does anyone have any photos from their grow out of this cultivar. I'd love to see them or have a link to photos. Thank you!
I was really worried about all this rain, but the new sprouts seem to be handling it okay so far.

I have one growing about 6 feet high....I'll take photos of it for you tonight. The leaves are huge!
Hmmm .... those first leaves on my sprout are a brownish color, not green. I wonder if that is because of all the rain? Or do I have something else?
The Brazilian has beautiful pink blooms with nice dark throats. Love the seed pods, too! Very pretty vine!!!
I seem to recall my cotyledon was bronze, too. The stems are thorny and retain the browish color, but the true leaves are green.
Thanks, Beth! I would love to see what yours looks like! Please do post a photo when you get a chance. :-)
Ronnie - Beautiful bloom!!! How big are the blooms? 3"? Smaller or larger? Thanks for sharing that photo!
AND ..... thanks for sharing some of your seeds! I am growing out YOURS!!!! :-)

Becky they aren't a real big bloom about 2 1/2'' I guess. Unfortunately they don't last long, most of mine are done by 9:00 at the latest... I had a picture of my entire fence covered a few years back but lost it due to a computer crash. It was a pretty site first thing in the morning...
Thanks, Beth! What large and beautiful leaves! That's really interesting about the thorns! Looks like it would hurt. Maybe a defensive trick to keep predators away?
Oh my! 35' tall! Good golly! It apparently like living in Florida! Love the leaves on it! Is it a perennial vine? Pretty pink little flowers! Thanks for posting the photos, Paul!
yes perennial
Nice Beth
Ooooooh! I am excited!! I just transplanted my seedling into a larger pot and it really likes it's new home! Looks so neat with that thorny stem!
