Can someone tell me how to deadhead
Family: Lamiaceae (lay-mee-AY-see-ay) (Info)
Genus: Leonotis (lee-on-OH-tis) (Info)
Species: leonurus (lee-on-or-uss) (Info)
Synonym:Phlomis leonurus
deadheading leonotis
I never deadhead mine, I don't think they'll rebloom. But if you want to try, I'd just cut the flower stalk off below the lowest spent flower cluster.
Interesting thought...I don't deadhead mine either.
I don't deadhead either. Winter does it for me.
I don't deadhead mine, either, but I do cut them way back after all of the blooms are finished -- back to about a foot or so above ground. In fact, last winter mine got hit by frost and got cut back nearly to the ground, and this summer it's back bigger and better than ever and covered with blooms. Incidentally, if you're interested, these grow well from seed, and the seeds are easy to collect -- just wait until a couple of weeks after the last flowers fall off, cut the stem below the flowers, and hold it upside down and shake it. The seeds fall right out.
