Morning Glory ID help

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking to ID a Morning Glory Vine that sprang up in my pot of Creeping Phlox. Unfortunately I don't have a camera, so am unable to post a pic. If I describe it to you, then I'm hoping, someone might be able to ID it for me. Ok, here goes.

It's leaves are shaped like the Ipomoea nil- Japanese Morning Glory 'Hatsu Arashi', petals are shaped and edged with white like Ipomoea nil- Japanese Morning Glory 'Picotee Blue Single', but the petals color is deep blue like Ipomoea tricolor- Grannyvine. It's a beautiful plant and I would love to know what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Without a picture it's not really possible to zero in on something.

maccionoadha - Does it look like either one of these

Yoi no Tsuki

or this one here

Close(?)...getting warmer...colder...(?)

What color is the throat area white or fuschia(?)...

I don't own a camera. I am home from having surgery and won't be back to work for a month, so money is too tight right now to purchase one. If you look at the links I posted you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Ron,
It has the deep blue color of the Yoi no Tsuki, but not the shape. The white around the rim is right, but again the shape is different. It's more star shaped like the 'Picotee Blue Single'. The throat starts as deep blue gradually turns to pink and bottoms out as white.

It's difinitely a nil. Looks like the "Ao Jishi" seeds I had this year. You didn't plant it?

No, it just appeared. I don't know how, but one day nothing, next day poof it sprouted up... lol. It refuses to set seed so, I'm trying to root a cutting I took from it. The frost got to the mother plant before I could dig it out and bring it in.

You have benevolent gremlins in your garden planting seeds!

Thank you Beth for the ID. Lol. Don't I know. I'm just hoping the cutting takes. I don't want to lose this one.

I was wondering, do you think my images are ok enough to post in the Plant Files?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I don't think we even have a Plantfiles listing for Ao Jishi, even though we've been buying them from Japan under that name. MG naming beyond "Ipomoea nil" is challenging. The closest to your bloom in Plantfiles is probably:

but since they so easily hybridize it's hard to identify anything other than the most common nil cultivars.

I guess I'll post the pics there. Thank you!

You did a great job of inadvertantly growing them...think what you can do if you grow them on purpose!!!!!

Lol... I know. Think of it, I could have a whole jungle of them.
