Here's another-
Plumeria Workshops
And this lady is a trip, she's always telling me what kind of a workshop she wants me to do next. Look at her photo. Doesn't she just look like a pistol! She's a fun lady because she's always joking around. Yesterday she told me she wants me to do carnations- the white ones that you put in water and turn colors by adding food coloring to the water. Haven't done that in a while but maybe some green and red for Christmas that they could arrange in little bud vases? Then she told me I needed to do a workshop on carnations made out of colored kleenex. Is there any kleenex out there any more that is any color other than white? Seems to me I do remember pink at one time but haven't seen that in years. Come to think of it, I don't know how to make carnations out of kleenex. I think I did that literally decades ago when I was a little girl. Anyone know how to do that? I'll come up with something. Evidently she's into carnations.
That's great, Lauren. You're a good soul for distributing the happiness around. I hope those plants bring joy for years to come. You did good, my friend! I'm glad that they all found a home somewhere.
Equilibrium-
Look for the coffee filter flower projects. They have been big on the shows this season. They look quite real, and they may be thinking of those. Keep up the good work!
Say andidandi! Did you ever figure out what you are going to do at your local nursing home?
Ok, what is a coffee filter flower project? Have you done one? I think I need to learn how to do this.
It was on Martha. I will try to find a link.
She may have seen this segment on Martha. If you look at the photo, that flower is actually a coffee filter:

She might also be talking about the tissue paper flowers. We used to make those in elementary school. They are not facial tissue, but the tissue paper you put into a gift box. All you need is the tissue and a piece of wire or a hanger. I can write out the instructions if you can't find them. It's very simple, but you need to be able to fold paper, so it may not work for a nursing home.
I called the local place and was told that they don't bring in outsiders. I will stay on it.

Wow, those look almost real! That project invloves cutting with scissors. At least half don't have the strength in their hands to use scissors.
I think they'd have a better chance folding than using scissors. I do remember folding kleenex to make roses but I also remember making them out of tissue paper. Since I can't think of any facial tissue that comes in any color other than white these days, the tissue paper would be preferable because that comes in an assortment of colors because lots of people use that to pack gifts in when they use a gift bag. Yes, please get me the directions. I went online to try to find a video on how to do it with tissue and came up empty handed. I am really not an artsy person. I can follow directions but that's about where it ends for me.
Really sorry about your nursing home out there not bringing in outsiders. What a loser location and their residents get stiffed out of some really good times. That is the first nursing home I have ever heard of that won't welcome in outsiders. About the only thing I can think of is past liability??? Maybe one of their residents bit somebody and there is ongoing litigation. Normally if there is a resident who is violent or has "issues" they aren't in with the general population. Not bringing in outsiders defies logic particularly when they've got somebody on the other end of the phone enthusiastically volunteering to do something. You know, another thought comes to mind. Maybe the activities director they have is afraid you're going to make work for him/her and doesn't want you to come because the residents might like what you do with them and want more workshops? I have definitely heard of activities directors who like to maintain status quo lest they have to... dare I say it... do their job. Thankfully, they usually don't last long. That's really the pits andidandi.
Here's one project using actual facial tissue. I'd never heard of this before:

And these are the flowers I grew up making:

Oh oh oh! Thank you! The first one is the one she wanted me to do a workshop on! Now I don't know which one to do. The one I remember doing as a kid or the one you remember!
